OK......THE LAST SEVERAL DAYS I HAVE BEEN SO HUNGRY. IT'S NOT HEAD HUNGER MY STOMACK ACTUALLY GROWLS! I HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH QUITE A BIT OF STRESS LATELY AND BATTLING SOME DEPRESSION. I HAVE LOST 42 LBS SO FAR....MY DOCTOR SAYS TO PLAN ON LOSING NO MORE THAN ABOUT 10 LBS A MONTH FROM HERE ON BECAUSE I DIDNT START OUT AS HEAVY AS MOST OF HIS PATIENTS I'M IN A STALL AGAIN......THIS HAPPENED ONCE BEFORE AND I HATED IT!! IT LASTED FOR ABOUT A WEEK AND A HALF AND THEN THE DAY IT ENDED I LOST 4 LBS. BUT IT IS SO DEPRESSING TO STAND ON THE SCALE AND NOT LOSE ANYTHING FOR DAYS! BUT THE HUNGER THING IS REALLY STARTING TO BOTHER ME....IS ANYONE ELSE GOING THROUGH THIS? I COULD REALLY USE SOME SUPPORT RIGHT NOW BECAUSE I'M NOT GETTING IT AT HOME! MY HUSBAND AND I ARE FIGHTING PRETTY BAD LATELY BECAUSE HE SAYS ALL I TALK ABOUT IS THIS WLS THING! IS ANYONE ELSE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THEIR MARRIAGE OVER THIS? PLEASE!!!!! HUGS, REBECCA 238/196/140?

Rebecca, I started having the hunger this week. It is about every 1 1/2 to 2 hours...and I am truly hungry! I am trying not to snack. I fill up very fast but the hunger comes right back. Maybe I'm eating the wrong stuff. I do get in my shakes and water...I hope this is just a phase. My weight does the same thing, dead stand still for 6 or 7 days then a 3 or 4 pound drop. I am 8 weeks out and have lost 35#. I also don't have as much to loose as some but would like to take another 40 or 50 off! Hugs, Rosey

If you are hungry.... DRINK DRINK DRINK. The more you drink the less you eat. We have a contest every day of sorts called WATER BABIES on the cali side of the boards and we keep each other motivated by posting our water intake for any given time of the day. So of course seeing others drinking more , makes you want to do better. Maybe this would help ya out.

I don't know if this is the right thing to do but I eat salt free crackers. You don't have to eat much because it swells in your stomach and makes you feel full. Hope I helped, but like I said it may not be the best way. Margaret 345/290/140?

If it's that depressing to get on the scale every day and not see a loss, then don't get on the scale every day. If you keep following the rules, you will lose weight. There's no physiological way not to. I find that my weight loss comes in spurts. I'll lose nothing or next to nothing for a week to 1.5 weeks, and then I'll drop 6 or 7 lbs in the next week to 1.5 weeks. Your body is going to lose at the rate it's supposed to lose at as long as you follow the rules. You've already lost 42 lbs! That's awesome! MaryAlice

Last Thursday at my support group meeting we had a guest speaker. She goes through out the country talking to peope about WLS etc. She had her surgery 5 years ago. She got on the topic of being hungry and she stressed LOUDLY when your hungry like that you need to drink your water. She said even though she HATES drinking water she still does it. It works, it really really works. However depression is also a bit*h. I know when i was depressed all I wanted to do was eat to feel better, even though the more I ate the worse I felt. I suggest trying to drink more water. As far as being considered a "light weight" it still sucks because you still have weight to lose and 10 pounds a month this early on can be discouraging. I have read loads of profiles. Probably 1/4 of the people were considered "light weights". I found that a lot went through exactly what you are going through. Loosing slower, hitting plateaus. As the months went on and their feelings of being upset with the slow loses etc it seemed that every single one of them within the year lost their weight and in the end even after complaining, getting frustrated etc. were happy with the final outcome. Also because it will come off slower you will have a better chance of not having much saggy skin, if any. As far as fighting with your hubby. Before surgery, as well as now I was WLS obsessed. All i did was think about the surgery, plan out the whole thing. My husband got aggrivated with me plenty. I heard things like all you do is talk about this surgery. Is this all you ever think about blah blah blah? After finally losing it and going off on him and getting out all the feelings of being over weight, the torment, everything you can think of he was actually speech less and apologized for saying those things. I am not sure if your husband has weight issues or not, but if he doesn't it is going to be very hard for him to even contemplate what you've gone through and are going through. This is a huge change for us, both physically and emmotionally. We are going to eat sleep and breathe this for a long time to come. Unfortunantly some spouses S/O's do end up having a hard time dealing with it. Fighting doesn't help because you only feel worse. But then again you are married and feel as if you can and should be able to share all your thoughts and concerns, even if they all revolove around your WLS. I say to bad for him he should just keep his opinions to himself and let you talk about your concerns. On the other hand, if he isn't giving you the encouragement or what ever it is your looking for then maybe you need to talk to the people in your support group, family or friends at least until he can talk about it and listen to you talk about it without getting frustrated. So that is my opinion. I wish you the best. If you need to talk though make sure you post as much here as you feel you need to to get the support your looking for. I am always willing to give adivce. LOL Best of luck to you.... Shannon

Hi Rebecca, I am starting to feel hungry especially when it has been awhile since I last ate. I am drinking water and that seems to help. As far as your husband goes, yes I went thru something like that with mine. He would start to roll his eyes everytime I started to talk about the WLS, so I just stopped talking about it and things have gotten alot better, he is actually more supportive now that I don't mention it, he does. Men what can I say. I know it must be hard because you want the support from your mate, but remember you have alot of support from here. I also stall alot. But you know I look at it this way my body is catching up with what I have lost and giving my skin sometime to shrink also. Don't get to down I know that is easier said than done. Keep up the good work you are doing great. Sonya

Hey Rebecca Hang in there, you will succeed! You are less than 60 lbs from goal right now!!! That is awesome. 10 lbs a month is a great rate of loss if you only have 60 left. I agree with the advice everyone has given you, lots of wisdom here. Don't weigh every day if it is causing you stress, talk to us about your wls, or make support group friends as well, don't talk as much about it with hubby. As far as hunger goes... my hunger seems to come and go. I have found that iced coffee is a good apetite suppressant. If your doctor allows it, then you may want to try that as a meal substitution mid-day. About 3 minutes into sipping it, I don't want food. I weigh at home every morning and don't always have a loss, but my scale is not completely reliable. I weigh once a week on my parent's dr scale and I know that one is reliable. I am averaging 10 lbs a month. My numbers are really close to yours. Email me anytime if you need to talk or need support. I can give you my phone number too if you want. Just like you, I love talking about wls and don't want to burn out my friends and family on the subject! Take care~ ~Sue 235/228 (surgery day)/188/130 or less
