I'm guessing everyone is having this problem to some extent. I'm miserable. I've tried Surfak, MOM, and Senna-S. It's either all or nothing, if you know what I mean. Has anyone actually found something to help them stay regular. Please let me know. Thanks, Sherry

Hi Sherry Im also Sherry... I have terrible problems with constipation... my dr told me to take colace everyday.. I take the cvs brand of colace stool softener one in the am and one before bed and for the last 2 weeks things have been running smoothly... I was worried about swollowing them but they are gel tabs and if I had problems I could drink somthing warm... I hope this helps it did for me...

I am glad someone posted this. I am actually in pain from constipation today. I have floated my kidneys trying ro get in more fluids, taken MOM, Benefiber and everything else. I am miserable and it HURTS! Staying regular would be great but just getting help now would be even better!

Boy oh Boy! Have I had this problem! Nothing seemed to help. I was in real pain. It was so bad that I thought I had a compacted bowel. I called the doctor and he told me to do a Fleet enema...I did and that didn't help either. I started eating fruit...peaches mostly and did get some relief. They sent me home from hospital advising to take 2 colace each night...I was up to 4. Then suddenly one evening "I went". It was a full week without going...what a relief! I now take 2 colace each night....but, I think I am now regular because I have been eating one (1) sugar free oatmeal/pecan or choc. chip cookie each evening! I know it sounds strange but I think it is the cookie. I have been regular (every day) since I starting eathing them! I sent a box to my sister who had her surgery a year ago and see thinks the same thing! I ordered them online...and they are wonderful. If anyone wants to know where I got them I will be happy to give you the information...My husband can't tell that they are sugar free!

I worked in the candy store at DOllywood at one time and they have a warning on all their sugar free things that says it will cause diarrhea if you eat too much. The store in Nashville called It's all Sugar Free will tell you the same thing....anything made with Malitol or Sorbitol will do that to you. The day I was at the store in Nashville, they gave me samples of everything....pumpkin roll, caramel, Davinci syrup...all sugar free and told me to try one a day to get the flavors, all at one time one send me to the bathroom. Today, I actually feel better but am going to have to get some kind of every day maintenance system going to prevent it from happening.

You are right Cindy, the cookies do say that too many will give you diarrhea but I would rather have a wonderful tasting cookie than the colace! Thanks for your information. Rosie

I had the same problem. I started taking two stool softeners a day. They are the Walmart brand; before you knew it, I was regular. Thank God. Every once in a while a will skip a day but other than that it seems to have worked. Good luck!!! J.

I had this problem since my diet is protein ONLY. No soft foods like most get. But , I had some pepperchinni peppers ... and presto ... you get all cleaned out naturally
