How much can you eat?
Hi all
I had surgery on Sept 29 and I am not able to eat very much at all. I can maybe eat 1-2 small bites of a piece of deli meat and that is all. I haven't lost anything in about 2 1/2 weeks and it is starting to bother me. i just wanted to see if I was about the same as everyone else. I know that everyone is different but I just wanted to get an idea of what you all are able to have.
Thanks a lot

Hi Lynn,
I had surgery on Sept. 23 and had a stall at 4 weeks that lasted for about 3 weeks. It ended and I've lost 5 pounds in the last week. My doctor recommends that I eat 5-6 meals that are about the size of a shot glass which is 1.5 -2 ounces. Here's a few examples of what I am able to eat:
2 string cheese
1/2 of a low carb bar like atkins apple crisp
1-2 oz fish or chicken with a few green beans
Most of 1 egg and half a piece of whole wheat toast with no crust.
1 ounce of pepperoni sticks
Hope that helps!
Julia
Julia,
Thank you very much for the info. I tried to eat string cheese and it tasted good but I could only take 2 bites and I was done. I can't imagine eating 2 whole pieces!!!!!!!! Anyway, I see that you live in Wa. I used to live there as well. I lived on Whidby Island and then in Everett. I loved living up there. I lived by the Boeing plant and worked for an airline so I had a long drive to Seatac everyday!! But I loved every minute of it.
Thanks again for all the info
love

Hi! I had RNY on the 16th of Sept. I was just released for solid foods last week. I can eat about 2-3 oz of soft foods and, like you, a can only manage a bite or two deli meats. I toss all regular meats (fish, beef, pork, chicken.) I do well with cheeses. I can eat nuts - which is weird to me. I can't swallow pills bigger than a matchhead or I'll throw it up. Sometimes I do anyway. Even tho I am glad to be able to legally eat all foods, my tummy is far happier with the softer (little or no texture) foods. It get's better every day.
At week #3 I slowed WAAAYYYYYy down for almost 4 weeks I lost very few # (-2 or -3 lbs each week) It was really hard. I was fairly down about it. (I am too scale focussed and I want to change this.) I think our bodies go thru resting periods - lose then rest, lose then rest. I just recently started losing again. I prayed a lot, kicked up my exercise and increased my protein. Make sure you are getting in your water and protein. Exercise as you can! IT WILL COME OFF, Lynn!
Make sure that you don't comapre too much to other's WL. Take only encouragement from other's experiences.
Hugs,
Nancy

Hi Lynn
I had my surgery same day as you!!
I am lucky. I can almost eat anything. I just have to be careful not to swallow too fast. Especially when I am entertaining clients at a restaurant. I have not lost weight for the last week or two. But it doesn't bother me because I hear everyone goes through the same phase.
Hi K D
You said that you can eat anything---I am glad that you can cause I am not sure yet what my problem is. I don't know if I am eating too fast or too much but I feel sick a lot. How much can you eat at one time? I think that if I can figure that out, then I would be better than I am right now. I don't get the full feeling that everyone talks about until I have overdone it and have to vomit.
Thanks for all the info and congrats on your weight loss. By the way, how much have you lost?
Lynn
Lynn-
Are you using protein drinks? What abou****er? Sounds like you are not getting enough nutrition. If you don't eat enough your body will shut down and hold on to everything. You won't lose faster by eating less. I cna eat about 1/2 C at a time. I am suppose to eat 6 times a day but, I usually get in 4-5 meals a day. I am not up to 64 oz of water yet but, keep trying to get all I can in. It's not easy. I am very rarely hungry so, it's hard to make myself eat when I don't want to. Keep trying - you'll get there.
