I had surgery on Sept. 28th at St. Luke Hospital in Phoenix Az. I am doing great. I to have concerns that i am not eating enough or sometimes to much. I can eat just about anything. I have not tryed stake or that kind of stuff. I do eat mostly soft food and I watch the protien and sugar content. I have not had any bread, pasta or rice and dont plan on it any time soon. With the Holidays coming up I would like to know if at this point, can I try the Atkins flour and what can I do with pies and things like that. Does anyone that had the open rny ever have a ripping filling when they stand up? My insision feels like it rips when I stand up. I am still quite sore at the scar. I put vit E on the scar at nights and still have the ripping feeling. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks Cheri

Hi, It's not a ripping you're feeling, it's a 'stretching' of you incision inside. It's going to feel that way awhile, even when your feeling better. It's like a zipper on a coat. When you bend down it rolls and curves, and then when you stand up it straightens out again. Just take your time, and it'll be okay in time. My surgery was the 20th, and I still get it from time to time, especially when I'm leaning over my computer for too long. The incision is the happiest when we sleep at night. We're lying straight and relaxed. If you notice, you feel really good when you get up in the morning. It's throughout the day it gets uncomfortable. Johanna
