HI Robin, I just got some Unjury protein and it is totally tasteless ( at least to me!). I plan in putting a little in everythign , like my drinks, tuna, chicken etc. I was getting about 80 % of my protein, but it was very veyr hard, I think this will make it easier. I also have a vanilla protien that I mix wiht hte new crystal light orange drink and it tastes Ok, I had to experiment a bit to get it to tast more like a dreamcicle .

God I envy all of you. I am not eating much. So far not much is agreeing with me. I tried a small meatball, with 1/2 ounce of ziti and sauce. The first time it was great, the next day I had some for lunch and it all came back up. Yogurt woks well for me as does plain cream of wheat. I also like bakes beans. I really have to eat them slow though and take small bites. Otherwise I get a belly ache. I know I am not getting enough protein in so I think I am going to have to buy some of that unjury protein powder. My calories have sucked too lately. I haven't felt good, icky tummy aches this past week so I am sure once I get past that my calorie intake will be higher and so will my protein. I had my surgery on 9/3/04 so I figured this would all be behind me by now but I guess not.... Shannon

((((((Shannon)))))))) hugs for you. Is your doc ok with this situation with your eating? Definitely use the protein powder until you can get enough protein in with food. Is there any chance you could either have a stricture or just a really small stoma? (which can maybe be scoped and stretched a bit?) It sounds like only very mushy stuff is staying down. I hope things improve for you soon. Love, Sue

Hi Robin, I don't know how far out you are from surgery, and what you're allowed to eat or how much, but I don't really drink shakes anymore. I am eating protein in the form of food. I eat chicken, tuna, occasional red meat, though not much. There is a low carb tuscan meatball soup that progresso makes that is really good. I have discovered cottage cheese with a little banana sliced in, I love this. Lowfat knudsen is the best. Shrimp are great if you like them. Sometimes I enjoy an egg, over medium on a slice of light wheat bread with a slice of nonfat cheese and thin ham. Feels like an egg mcmuffin but under 200 calories, filling with lots of protein. Just always think protein first, and if you can't get it in with food, then there are some clear protein drinks that are easier to handle than the shakes... i.e isopure zero carb. Good luck! ~Sue PS i will give fitday.com another plug because I journal everything I eat on that site (free) and am aware of exactly how much protein, calories etc i am getting. Just gives me peace of mind and a printable history to show my doc if need be.

I do one shake a day for 30 grams of protein and then try to get the rest from food. A couple of times this week I had a crunchy taco from Taco Bell, is that terrible of me?? I eat more of the filling than the shell but still feel like I am being sooo bad cause it tastes so good. Melissa 322/264/150

Hi Robin, I'm in the same boat as you. I just ordered samples of a protein thing called Nectar. It's supposed to be fruity like Kool Aid, not milk based like the others I gag on. I started purchasing prepackaged meals. I found them in the freezer section and by the canned lunch foods (Spaghetti O's etc) I just eat the meat out of the meals (20 grams protein) twice a day, then try to get in rest through cheese and nuts. I hope this helps! ~Sherry~
