Has anyone had this experience??
I have been eating (since I was allowed to start regular foods) things like ground turkey, chicken, deli meats (low sodium, etc) In the last two days, those foods have started making me sick and I have been on a horrible cheese craving binge. I want cheese by itself, cheese on everything and when nothing else will stay down, cheese does. What in the world is going on? I thought those things were my safe bet foods but now I don't have them. Sunday, I actually went back to an old stand by, pureed chili and it stayed down. Help!
Cindy,
I haven't had any problems with the turkey or chicken deli meats, however, I did try some ham 2 weeks ago....96% fat free Hillshire Farms. Oh God it was just awful. I did feel sick once from the turkey, but I kept it down. I'm thinking it was for the same reason the other post mentioned. I didn't chew it well enough, because I'm still eating the turkey now and I'm ok with it. I think I'd give it another try if I were you, to see how it goes. Good luck!

I don't know why things would change like that. Maybe the chewing thing is correct. I have slipped up a time or two myself on that--yuck. I get tired of chewing stuff to death. The cheese diet shouldn't hurt you for a while if it settles your stomach and then you can move on again. I wish I could do the deli meats but they just will not stay down.
My long timer friend keep telling me that all "baby" pouchs are different and I believe it!!

Hi!
It could be that you are trying so many new things frequently now. There are some meats that at times make me sick. ? Not often, but the deli meats didn't do well with me at all. I do fine with chicken, hamburger, beef in general, turkey. I did NOT do well with thin sliced deli meats. ?
I too have been on a cheese craving. I bought cheese spread in a small container, low carbs, good protein and have had that on ritz whole wheat crackers; bought low fat cheddar and swiss and have that too. I also went on a peanut butter kick too and even put cheddar and peanut butter together. Weird! That's all I wanted and want lately. ?
So, I go with what my pouch tells me and it works for me.
We get protein from the cheese and as long as we tolerate it and it is low fat, why not?
I did continue to have problems after going from pureed to soft foods and thought I was just not agreeing with the newer things. Turned out for me, I had a narrowing of an opening in my new 'parts'. Scar tissue and swelling led to a narrowing and the endoscopy and opening it up by ballooning by my surgeon did the trick. Ah, much much better now. Whew! What a difference. So, just to let you know, if this continues, just give a holler out to your doc. so he/she can make the judgement call.
The endoscopy was fine and boy, I feel 3000% better! What a difference!

My experience at 9 weeks post op is that I STILL can't handle deli meats and yet I crave something meaty. Chicken makes me sick but I can tolerate small amounts of ground turkey meat. Lately I, too have been on a cheese binge! I can eat less than an ounce but it seems to satisfy some needy thing in me!
yes man my pouch differs from day to day...well mor elike week to week ..i would say its just the healing process (c: I just have to eat sososo slow and becareful, matter of fact i think i dumped on salad and BC dressing last night, and i have been eating that since week 3?? go figure (c: good luck~~~
I have wanted cheese like crazy too! I even licked the cheese off of Doritos and threw the chips away. I now eat one ounce of cottage cheese or 1/2 oz. of pemento cheese, and that stays down great. I had my surgery one month ago, nothing has made me sick yet! However, chicken makes my throat feel heavy, so I have been eating tuna and it is working great!
