Is anyone having a problem with constipation? Sorry to ask but I am having quite a time with it. I added fruit today to foods, I get in all the water and I take 3 stool softeners every night...I have to strain very hard to go, and I get the urge to go everytime I stand up! So I am going about every hour or two all day....but the straining is very troublesom. Please help! Rosey

I'm sorry to hear this is happening to you. I've been taking benefiber every three days, so I haven't had a problem. Anyways, straining's can't be good to you or for you? What stool softeners are you using? johanna

I had the same problem about a week ago and it was BAD!!! I started having an applesauce pack (no sugar added) which are 4oz, so it is a perfect snack and at night a little Kashi cereal with skim milk (usually 1/4 cup of cereal and 1/4 cup of milk). The next day I was 'regular' again. Hope this helps. Kell

Kell, thanks for your help...but what is Kashi cereal? Can I get it at the grocery store? I do like cereal but I haven't seen this one. Thanks for your help. I will give it a try! Rosey

Well yes I do. I have that problem weekly. When I do go it is pretty hard, hurts like hell and sorry to share this but it usually tears me up and I end up bleeding. I just try to add as much fiber so it stops happening. I am sure eventually my body will get over it and I will start having better BM's... Shannon

I have this problem and have not had my surgery yet. I take a laxative generic of Colace. The main ingredient is Docusate. My book suggests : Eat applesauce, oatmeal, or pureed prunes daily. Drink plenty of water Exercise regularly. If you still have a problem use Dulcolax suppository, Fleets enema, or Milk of Magnesia. If this does not work after two tries, call your doctor's office. For gas problems, they recommend simethicone. If it helps you feel better, they say constipation is common after gastric bypass surgery. Good luck!! The last thing you want to do is strain. I hope you are doing better. Susan
