Roll Call... What's new?
Hi! I will be six weeks out tomorrow and according to my scale I've lost about 35 pounds.
I have been on the creamed soup phase since week two and hope to end that on Friday after I see the doctor.
I have gone down one size and they are getting loose on me too.
Overall everything has gone realtively smoothly and I'm so glad I did this!

I am 5 wks out now and feeling great! Down 30 lbs. which is amazing to me because it used to take 3 months to lose that much when I was still in my twenties!! People are really noticing and my husband says I feel narrower when he hugs me. I am having a little trouble keeping some things down and that's no fun at all. Still I don't regret this in any way as I have already seen how this is so beneficial. I'm still on soft foods with rf wheat thins once in a while. I go to the dr. on 11/4 so hopefully I can eat something besides cottage cheese and applesauce! Congrats to all!

Hey Gang!
It's been great to read everyone's posts.
I am 7.5 weeks out and doing well. I have lost 36 pounds. Even though I know that is a lot, I still feel fat. It's such a mental thing. I started at 251 at a size 22/24 and now I am an 18/20. My clothes are hanging off, but I haven't bought anything new yet...trying to wait until Thanksgiving. I am exercising 3-4 times a week at the gym and walking pretty good. I can eat anything as long as it's not too fatty. Haven't really tried sugar yet. I am pleased with the results and cannot wait to see where we all will be in 1 year!!!
Love to all!

What fun to read about everyone, and see such a huge amount of weight gone forever. I wonder how many "people" we have lost if you add it all up? We have probably lost a small village by now, lol.
I am at 9 weeks tomorrow, and down 38 lbs...wi**** were more, but glad it is that. The worst news is that I found out I don't dump on butterfingers............ The best news is that my wound infection has finally healed and I am about to star****er aerobics! I am very excited about that.
Sizewise, I really have only outgrown one pair of size 22 shorts....... bummer. BUT, I did buy a size 16 shirt today that FITS!! (Yep, tried on the 20, then the 18.........and the 16 is no where close to tight....) So, it is coming, but slowwwwww.
As for eating, Fitday is my savior.........It really makes me think harder about the carbs and fats.........and it reminds me when my protein for the day needs a boost. I can eat almost a whole low carb Smart Ones dinner now, or 1/2 cup taco soup, or 6oz of yogurt..........and I find if I am closer to 600-800cal/day I lose better than at 500..go figure.
Keep up the great work, everyone. This is some wild ride......and I feel better every single day. How lucky were we to be where we are now?
HI SUE,
LET'S SEE, IT'S NOW BEEN 7 WEEKS, I'VE ONLY LOST 32LBS. I GO BACK TO WORK TOMORROW, KINDA GLAD BUT NERVOUS ALSO. I NEED TO JOIN A GYM, BUT HAVE BEEN WALKING EVERY DAY.I WENT FROM A SIZE 30 PANTS A YEAR AGO TO A RECENT SIZE 22, I WAS SO EXCITED. BUT, LIKE YOU, I STILL HEAD FOR THE LARGER SIZES.THAT'S IT FOR NOW, I HOPE EVERYONE IS DOING GREAT. HUGS, SUE
It's been so great seeing all of your updates! Silly me, I keep forgetting how far out I am from surgery, I actually will be 9 wks on friday. So I was a week behind on my dates in my post. I feel like this surgery is truly a miracle for all of us. Isn't a strange sensation to be shrinking???? I hope everyone keeps up the good work. Keep exercising, drinking your water, reading the boards and educating yourselves. The more we know about this surgery, the better we can succeed. My hubby and I went to the Obesity Help convention in Southern California over the weekend. It was neat to meet people from the California message board and we learned alot through the classes offered. If you have a chance to go to an OH convention or gathering in your area, you should definitely check it out! Next, I would like to find a support group in my area. The closest one is on the same night as my once a month bunko get together, and I'm not willing to give up my girls night out!! So you guys are my support group right now! Thank you for being there for me!!!
Love, Sue
PS we are still missing alot of our September folks in this roll call, so check in we want to know how EVERYONE is doing!
How wonderful to hear how my fellow September 2004 losers are doing. Altogether I have lost 50 pounds (17 pre, 33 post) as of 2 days ago and I can't even express just how good I feel. My biggest challenge these days is getting in enough food and water every day. Most days are good but there are some that just stink...and just because I plain forget to eat or drink. I really haven't had that many complications out of the norm...just some discomfort if I eat too fast or eat too many carbs. I'm still experimenting with food to see what works and what doesn't. The funny thing is my brain really hasn't adjusted to the post-surgery me. When I go to the grocery store, I'm always scoping out "treats" that are OK for me...but I rarely ever get a chance to eat them..I'm too busy trying to get in the basics. So I have all these goodies like cookies and candy that's appropriate for post-ops and I rarely eat them yet I continue to scope them out at the store! It's like a small part of my brain is craving the food just like pre-surgery. But it's not like I'm feeling deprived or anything, weird. Has anyone else had this issue?
Anyhow, I'm totally grateful for the surgery and this support group...you guys are great!
Thanks guys...
Christine
50 pounds gone for good!!
RNY: Sept. 10, 2004
Hi,
My surgery was 7 weeks ago today. I had Lap RNY. I've lost 44 lbs. since then plus I lost about 7 lbs. in the month before my surgery for a total of 51. I am feeling great. I have a little different diet than most of you. I'm only eating protein until I'm at 75% of my goal. I can eat every protein I've tried and have not had any trouble eating. I don't use protein shakes and get all my protein in 3 meals a day. I did have a B1 deficiency and had to get 5 shots and take a B1 supplement besides the rest of my vitamin program. I missed taking vitamins for a couple of days before my lab work was done, so it was probably my own fault that I had to get shot in the butt for 5 days in a row! I walk at least a mile most days at a pretty rapid clip and I also do the "8 Minutes in the Morning" excercise program. I have gone from size 44 pants to 40's and I can wear every pair of pants that I had stashed away in the "someday when I lose weight" part of my closet. Shirts are way roomy now. I'm still wearing 2X shirts, but am getting close to XL. Wahoo WLS!! Go Losers!
HELLO EVERYONE
SO GREAT TO READ HOW EVRERYONE IS DOING. YOU GUYS ARE DOING SOOOOO GREAT
AS FOR ME....I AM 7 1/2 WEEKS OUT. I HAVE LOST 37 LBS WOOHOO!
I HAVE HAD ABOUT 3 EPISODES OF DUMPING WHICH IS NOT FUN. I HAVE FOUND THAT I CANT TOLERATE ANY KIND OF GREASE. OTHER THAN THAT THINGS HAVE GONE FAIRLY DECENT. I AM EXTREMELY TIRED WHEN I GET HOME FROM WORK BUT I TRY TO EXERCISE 3 X'S A WEEK. TREAD MILL, STAIR STEPPER AND BIKE. BOY THAT STAIR STEPPER REALLY KICKS MY BUTT.... ALL MY TESTS CAME BACK GREAT FOR MY SIX WEEK VISIT SO I GEUSS I'M DOING SOMETHING RIGHT. IT REALLY SUPRISED ME BECAUSE I KNOW I DONT GET ENOUGH PROTEIN OR WATER IN EVERYDAY (I THINK MY BODY IS PRODUCING ITS OWN )
I FOUND I CAN HOLD 2.5 OZ BUT I RARELY EAT THAT MUCH AT A TIME.
ALL MY CLOTHES ARE GETTING BAGGY BUT I HAVENT GONE AND TRIED ON ANY TO SEE WHAT SIZE I'M IN NOW...I USED TO HATE SHOPPING SO I GEUSS I'M STILL IN THAT FRAME OF MIND. I WILL PROBALLY GO THIS WEEKEND JUST TO SEE IF I FIT IN ANYTHING SMALLER. I STARTED AT SIZE 20 SO I WILL LET YALL KNOW.....
ONE GREAT THING HAPPENED THIS PAST WEEKEND...I AM NO LONGER MORBIDLY OBESE...NOW JUST OBESE...WOOOHOO!!! MY BMI WAS 38.4 WHEN I STARTED NOW IT IS 33.1 ABOUT 4 MORE POINTS AND I'M JUST OVERWEIGHT.
WELL I GEUSS THATS ALL FOR NOW I WILL KEEP YOU POSTED AND PLEASE KEEP ME POSTED WITH YOUR GREAT STORIES.
SO GLAD TO BE A LOSER,
REBECCA
