A Plateau at three weeks?
Ok I know better than to panic but, I was losing great for three weeks, forty-three pounds to be exact, and then my dreadful cycle started and the scale hasn't moved in a week.
What the heck is that all about? I am pretty much only getting two 200 calorie shakes a day this last week. I don't want to eat too much more than that because of the sudden weight-loss halt.
Exercise has included at least a 15 minute treadmill walk daily and lots of recreational walking which I don't count or keep track of. I have also been lifting 10-15-20 pound weights daily. On the forth week I was even in the pool walking and low impac****er aerobics.
All my pills are taken daily, only new pills are Actigall and Pepcid.
I have been moving and 400 calories a day I should have lost at least a pound.
Somebody please tell me that you too have experienced something like this?
If you have not, just tell me that the surgery will not fail me if I keep up my end of the bargain. I guess I may have too much time on my hands, what do Ya think?
Don't fret, darlin'. I too had a quick 30lb weight loss and then a plateau that last 2-3 more weeks. Your body can't handle keeping up such a large weight loss. My doc told me my body was taking stock. Also, keep in mind that even if the scale isn't moving, you could be losing inches. So, Start Measuring!

Hi Linda,
Congrats on your wonderful loss so far! To answer your question, here's what I've learned... True plateau? No. Stall? Yes. Stalls can happen at any point and they do happen. I am stalled myself right now. They say for a halt in weight loss to truly be considered a plateau, you need to be at a weight loss standstill for over three weeks, while on track with your eating and exercise. Try not to worry abou it, keep up your good work, and you may even want to increase your calories a bit. I've read so many accounts of people who couldn't lose at 500 calories a day but drop like crazy at 800. With your doc's guidance of course! I'm sure you'll be losing again in no time

Hi Linda,
When I started my period my weight loss stopped also and it was week three that it happened. As soon as my period was done I started losing again. So don't worry. When you finish you should drop a couple of pounds, I did and the weight loss has picked back up. You are doing great with a 43 lb loss. In my first month I lost 30lbs. Keep up the good work.
