Sublingual B-12
I went over to Walmart today and got me a bottle of Rexall B-12, 500 mcg. Their micro lozenges and I was surprised at the price 4.00 for 200.
Anyway, I was never told how much of the B12 to take. The doctor simply said to get on it, and to take the Tums as well. I'll call him tomorrow, but just wanted to know if anyone is taking this, and what the heck is sublingual mean?
Oh, btw, this cherry flavored.

Im assuming your taking Tums for the calcium.
The calcium in Tums is carbonate, that isnt absorbed by post wls pts.
Its been prooven that calcium Citrate is much better absorbed by post wls patients.
Check out the library on this site, and look up calcium, it has a lot of info on the subject.
Good luck!
one thing about this if you take to much your body will pee the rest out...I thought i would die before that thing got melted..not my idea of cherry flavor...LOL...i am now on the vitamist but when I was at Gnc I got a liquid form.. I have not tried it yet...i also have a chewable calcium and i would not think the tums would have enough calcium that you would need...as i am taking 1000 mg a day..i just looked at my tums bottle (no glasses) looked like it said 350 mg per thats not bad..as i have to take 4 of these chewables to get 1000 mg...
Hi,
Yeah you're right. It's 300 per tablet, so that's four a day, but I've just read that Tums is a carbonate and may not absorb as well as Calcium Caltrate.
I'm going to check with my doctor about it.

P.S. Still waiting to hear how much B12 I'm supposed to have. Can you believe the doctor wanted to write a prescription for this? I'm getting mine over the counter! 4.00 compared to 15.00 wins hands down for me.Even a higher dosage is cheaper!
My doctor told me to take 1 adult multivitamin and 1 sublingual B-12 (can't remember if it is 1000 or 1200 mg) every morning and to take 1000 mg Calcium with Vitamin D and Magnesium every day. I end up taking one 500 mg with lunch and 500 mg with dinner since your body can only absorb 500 mg at a time.
