C-Pap Machine Readjusted!
Hi,
Since coming home from the hospital, I've had a reall difficult time sleeping with my Cpap machine, to the point where my throat was dry again, and I was waking up two or three times a night just to drink water. Well, I was given a replacement to see if my machine needed to be lowered (It's been at 12 since February), and the nurse called today and said they'll be readjusting it to "7"!!!
That means that since my surgery(Sept 20th), and the losing of a total of 33 pounds, I've stopped taking my high blood pressure meds and my breathing has improved to the point where I don't need all that air being pushed in my face!LOL
I love the little changes!!!
P.S. Since walking out of the doctor's office the other day, I got a call apologizing for my long wait. The doctor had a trauma emergency. I appreciated the apology.
WOW, Johanna, you have really hit the jackpot: CPAP cut almost in half, bp meds thrown away, and an apology from the doc's!! You may have just set a worlds record!!
I had the exact same situation with my CPAP. It was an 11 going in, I have lost 35 lbs, and it was just blowing my head off...soooo dry, such headaches, not being able to sleep..............so, moved it down to 9, and life is ever so much better. I have never had trouble sleeping with it before, so this is really weird for me.
And the same with the bp meds......... So far, I am totally off of one, cut one in half, and still on the third...............BUT my bp is WAY TOO LOW..............like running about 85/50..........so I am going in to see the doc tomorrow for further adjustment.........
Isn't it fun??
Keep up the good work!
HURRAY FOR YOU, JOHANNA! I am so glad you finally got a good night's sleep! It really makes all the difference, doesn't it?
Did you have to have another sleep study for them to change your setting? Mine is at 9 now, down from 11, but it still seems to be blowing my mouth open and leaving me with a really dry throat........
Hi Louisa,
It does make a difference indeed!
As for another sleep study, no, it wasn't necessary. They gave me a machine to use for a week that measured my sleeping and adjusted itself automatically. Afterwards, they took it and the info and sent it to the doctor, who then wrote out a new prescription according the findings. It only took a week after they took the machine back to do this, so I'm very glad!
If you're still having problems, you should definitely contact the doc about it!
Johanna
