Pity Party... (On Main Message Board too)
Ok, so it's been about a week and a half since I last complained about how slow my weight loss is going, especially for being a heavy weight (pre-op 304lbs). Tuesday was my 5 week weigh in with the doc and I've "only" lost 29 lbs since surgery. I don't want to be disappointed in myself or my weight loss, but I can't help but be. It seems that with over 130lbs left to lose, I'm never going to get there. I guess it makes it worse when I read this message board and people lighter then me have lost 15, even 20, lbs more then I have in only 4 weeks.
So, I know I am having a pity party right now and there's not much I can do about how quickly it comes off (it certainly didn't come on in a day), but still ... someone's got to know and understand my pain.
I definitely understand your pain. I too have felt like I was losing too slowly, but 29 lbs in 5 weeks is still really good!! You are so right that it didn't get put on overnight and that it won't come off that way either, but oh man do I wish that it would!!!!! I have found it best to STAY AWAY from the scale. I weigh once a week on Sunday am. I feel your pain. I have 68-88 more pounds to lose, and I have given my self a year to do it. I'd like to lose 18 more pounds by Christmas. Have you set any goals???
Keep your chin up!!!
Much Love, KT
Thanks KT -- My goal was 90 lbs total by Christmas. I know, I know, unrealistic, but I've seen others do it without even exercising.
It just seems that I'm working so hard and the results are so minimal...
You're right, though, I might put away the scale for a few weeks....maybe that'll work better for me.
GURRRL IMA STOP THIS PITY PARTY RIGHT NOW!!! DO U REALIZE THAT WHEN MOST PPL POST THEIR WT. THAT THEY ADD THE WT.THEY LOST PRIOR TO THEIR SURGERY? I LOST 20 lbs b/f surgery...and lost another 22lbs after surgery...which i say makes me at a lost of 42 lbs since my wt. lose journey!!! I Don't think ur do'n bad @ all!!!

Hi Halide!
I think your doing great! You're averaging almost 6 pounds a week and I bet you never did that when dieting before surgery. I am 4 weeks out and have stalled at 25 pounds since surgery, but I just keep telling myself that this is a process that's going to take time and patience. You need to pat yourself on the back for having the courage to start this journey and know that in time you'll meet your goal. Just keep giving your tool all the help it needs (exercise, water, protein, healthy foods, vitamins, etc.) and you'll be looking great in no time!!
We're on this path together and together we'll get to our goal!

I am right there with you! 31 lbs in 5 weeks. This week's total was only a 2 lbs loss! Ugh. BUT..... Let's chose to remember the long term - we WILL lose weight and a lot of it!!! Remember when we first read about WLS? All those profiles of people who lost weight and it read like the loss was lightning fast when we were on the other side. 6 lbs a week ***is*** an incredible loss! Each of our journies are so unique we need to try and not compare ourselves too much with others -- unless it is to take encouragment. Keep the long term in sight! We really are doing well. Have you measured yourself? I found that in the last 2 weeks with only losing 7 lbs, I lost 15 inches!
many blessings!
Nancy
Hey, if you want to feel upset you can. But your doing great som even if your not seeing it, were all proud of you. And who ever mentioned above that most people add their total weight since the whole weight loss journey the totals can be higher. Some people lose slow at first and then it picks up. You said you have 130 pounds to lose to be at goal. Well I have about 121 left to go too. It seems like a lot but I have my own system. I do it in incriments of 20 pounds. When you break it down that way it doesn't seem so untouchable.
I hope your ok now.....
Please keep us posted so you don't get depressed and not share anything with us.......
