Has this happened to anyone else?!
My surgery was on Sept 27th, and tonight I had to make myself
I was taking one of the many pills I still have to take and it really felt like it just went down sideways!
I'm not in pain and after lots of water ( and burping) I got some soft food down ( and stayed down).
I know our plumbing is built for problems happening some times-- but this soon?
Any information would help the fear
Thanks!
Yes I do. I get sick after most of the foods I eat and I have had to and most of the time it comes up on it's own. The pain when things get stuck is awful and if it has to come up it has to come up. I wouldn't recomed doing it all the time but your ok and you didn't break any rules. I hope that doesn't happen anymore because sucks any way.

Ruth,
Are you taken whole pills? I am still on several meds also, but my doctor has me crush them and dissolve them in water, or hide them in Jell-O or something. He say's that if you take the whole pill it could get stuck, and that could become a big problem. You need to ask your doctor about taken your meds.
Good luck,
Donna
I also prefer the chewable vitamins (although I gag most of the time eating the Flintstones vitamins) and my calcium is also chewable and it goes down just fine with no pain. I guess it is all in preference.
I am supposed to be taking my gallbladder pills but I have to open the capsule up in some applesauce and take it that way...YUCK! I stopped taking the pills. I will risk the chance of developing a bad gallbladder. I take them on occasion but not as regularly as I should. It is nasty even the applesauce doesn't cover iup the taste.
But my P.A. says I should try to let the capsule melt on my tongue and once its soft then swallow.
Just my 2 cents.

I have this problem, too. I use a pill cutter and make them as small as possible, taking one tiny piece at a time and letting it slide down on my Crystal Light. Still, it feels like sometimes they get stuck in the throat. I just keep sipping until it dislodges. Don't try to throw up! This irritates the opening.
