I know when I first made the decision to have this surgery I studied and researched. I made my lists and did the prep work. I made a promise to follow through with everything but somehow it didn't work out the way I had wanted to or hoped. I promised that I wouldn't be a couch potatoe. But the 1st 5 weeks I didn't do much walking like I said I would. At 6 weeks I am testing foods (good foods not bad ones) that I shouldn't be eating according to my nutritionists stage settings. I found I can tolerate. Although if I had my choice I wouldn't eat at all if I didn't have to. I still rely on my yougurt and SF popsicles. Did anyone else feel this way or get off track? I am getting more energy back and I am walking more. Drinking is not a problem for me. But trying to time drinking the 20 mins before and after eating is hard. Why? It seems like I am trying to remember all the do's and don'ts. I really want this to work. But I have managed to lose 41 lbs so I must be doing something right? Am I crazy? Is it me? Erin

Hi Erin: I stuck to it like glue. I am 3 weeks Post-op. I am at the gym every morning. I did 4 miles this morning on the elyptical machine. I have a lot of energy. I noticed after I have higher carbed foods like Yogurt or fruit I feel lethargic so I limit my intake and focus on proteins. I am ingesting about 100-125 grams of protein a day. I hope that helps.... Hi KD. Would you mind sharing a bit about your daily protein intake? I, too, am 3 weeks Post op, and just can't seem to get in enough protein. If it isn't too much trouble, can you share a daily food log? Thanks Jessica

It is not just you. I am three weeks out and can't even get through a small local grocery store. I am weak and tired. Can't get protein in but am drinking lots. I had hoped I'd feel better by now. I just seem to be getting weaker rather than stronger. I started my vitamins this week hoping that will help. Having trouble with the not drinking with meals. I feel like such a failure. I know it will get better. Just hope it is soon.

Erin, I know what you mean. I told myself that I was going to do all of this walking and exercise also, but no it's not happening. I go back to work next week, so I hope that will help me get more energy. I don't eat very much at all. If I do eat it is only 4 or 5 bits, I do make sure it is all protein. I am just not hungry, but I know I need to eat. But I am getting in my water. Good luck, Donna

Thanks for the input. I had all these plans. KD good for you for being able to go to the gym 3 weeks out....WOW! I am impressed. I am lucky if I walk a mile and I am 6 weeks out. It will get better because when I got a burst of energy at 5 1/2 weeks out, it just hit me. I was up and out. I also noticed that i am having trouble sleeping. I am doing better but just not the way I planned. Hang in there ladies and gents cuz I know it will get better. Everybody heals at different rates and loses at different times. WE can do this. That I can guarantee. Thank you for your responses. I appreciate it. Erin

Hi Erin, I'm four weeks out today...I, like KD have stuck to the doctors orders like glue. I know this might sound a little crazy but even when I don't want to walk (the old self talking about how nice it would be to lounge around on the couch) I still make myself get up and do it anyway. I think the walking has been the one thing that has surprised me the most. I am actually enjoying the time I am spending walking (wait a minute...did I just say that???). I have found that it is a stress reliever (I had been told that before but never experienced it myself) and it is just one more thing I'm doing "just for me" that makes me feel good about myself. It sounds like you are doing great on your weight loss so far! Stick with it and before long everthing will be like second nature. Trace

I am 4 weeks out and I know what you mean about the walking and everything. I want to walk but I ahve 3 very large openings in my insicion and it is painful for me to walk for a long time . I have only lost 21 lbs as of today and I am 4 weeks out today. I am very frustrated. It is very hard to get all of the food and water in and all the protein and exercise. I envy all of the people that jump back up and start exercising and losing all this weight I feel like i am ont he low end of the losing cycle. (just had my girl time) I dont know if that has anything to do woth it but I started back to work part time on Monday and i am hoping soon i will lose more weight. I cant possibly be the only person that has failed at WLS Amybee BTW Great job on the weight loss keep it up!
