Just Not Eating?
Is anyone just not eating? I want to eat the stuff on my list...the milk, cottage cheese etc. But I can't really just have that stuff all the time just like that. I have the lactaid milk sometimes. But I know I won't be able to have the cottage cheese. So when I was trying I would just have reg. cheddar cheese and a cracker or something or a slice of bread. But then I was like "Oh I'm not following the booklet" ...so now I notice I just have water and occassionally eat something. I don't really know what to do. In the very very beginning I was having my jello, apple sauce, non-sweetened apple juice and my chicken broth...but now I find the apple sauce makes me nauseous (sp).
Anyone else having this problem. I started myself on Flintstone vitamins the dietician hasn't returned my call and I'm going to get a personal dietician I think. The hospital doesn't have an after care program and her not calling me back is not sitting well with me this is my health and its not like she's not getting paid by the hospital and or the province.
I have problems with mils products and thereare so many things I don't like anyway it was really limiting my choices. I made myself eat jello, pudding broth, all of which I put in protein in. I also was able to get Walgreens to sell me Snapple Lowcarb meal replacement and their house brand of Fruit 2 O Plus , which has no callories and has vitamins!! I have even found a tollerable butter substitute, but I had to put on a jacket and go through 3 Supermarkets before I did. I was standing at the diary section so long people started asking me for opinions of stuff they were buying, LOL.
I'm sorry about your dietician, I went to one before considering the surgery and she was horrible. It takes a while to find a good , knowledgeable person.
Keep the faith and we'll keep you in our prayers.
I have to say that although for the most part I am eating SOME things everyday and all the things are what is approved for the most part, I have days where I cant choke down anything at all so I just drink things. I have lost 21 lbs and I am 4 weeks out tomorrow and I think it should be more and I dont know what to think. I know that i should exercise more but I am having trouble doing this because I have 3 openings in my incision and it is very painful for me to walk alot. I try very hard to get all my fluids in but I know I am not getting them all in every single day. I have been told that this will stop the weight loss if i dont eat or drink enough and I am worried that I am going to be the only person that fails at WLS. I am a spaz so forgive my rambling!
How much have you lost.

Have you tried creamed soups? They worked really well for me in the beginning. I just mixed it and froze it in ice cube trays and when it was time to eat, i would break out a couple soup cubes and micro it and it was good. Cream of potato, cream of chicken. DOes that have milk? I'm sorry i don't know. I haven't had a problem with milk. you can try DIET Carnation instant breakfast drink. Can you use fortified milk powder? It was really good in vanilla. As long as it's diet. I also dod Cream of Wheat and Malto Meal, they have a couple flavors. You can add Splenda and it is really good, just make sure you don't make it too thick.
What else did I do? Towards the end of my 3 week liquid, i made tuna and just smashed it up real good. I was glad for that. This is pretty much what i lived on for those first three weeks. JUST MAKE SURE YOU GET IN YOUR LIQUIDS. This is soo important. I was having a real hard time with that and itcaught up with me. I was dead tired and not losing in week four and just barely got my energy back this week, week 5. Keep trying different protein powders until you find one you can tolerate. Champion makes some good ones and Nectar makes some fruity type ones. REALLY GOOD!!! Depends on your taste. Check out vitalady.com. She has samples on there. Well, I hope things look up for you soon. I know they will. You will get through this. Just keep on this site, there are lots of great answers here. And support!
I had similar issues and the doctor and the dietician called me at home right away. I feel blessed to have a great after care program in Baltimore! The short answer is you must eat small bits of something and you must sip, sip, sip on liquids, to not get sick! I can't do creamed soups, but slowly eating broth helps. I had to slow down. I allow myself a couple of hours to eat what once took me minutes. I eat bits over the course of a few hours. I sip for hours on ice water, or eat a fruit juice pop. I don't do great everyday, but I try to eat something three of four times a day. This morning I got down a few teaspoons of applesauce and some hot tea. for lunch I had a few tiny bits of salmon. I'll have a fruit pop for snack and some diet iced tea. Not much calorie wise, but I am trying and I will try something else this evening. I've been told that it will get better! We've got to hang in there.
