Walked Out of Hospital Today
Walked Out Of Hospital Today
Okay,
So I tell the office manager that I need to reschedule my appt today, because my husband can't give me the car to get there. The OM says, "What if we schedule it a little earlier?" I go great! If I can get in at 9am that would work. She checks the schedule and puts me down.
I get up at 5am with my husband so I can get to the hospital at 7:30. I'm looking at the first hour as "my" reading time, so it's not a bad thing. At 8:10, I go and sign in for my 9 o'clock appt. I'm not naive; I know to expect to wait to see the doctor, but I was his first appt, and figured I'd be in there by 9:45 at least.
At 10am my name is called. I go in, get weighed (327), escorted to an ice cold room, told to change, and told that the doctor will be in shortly.
When the clock hit 11:05, I put my clothes on and left, not saying a word to anyone.
I hate teaching hospitals, always have. My fondest memory of the teaching hospital was when I was 8 months pregnant, had an appt to see the doctor, was placed in a room and I waited until I fell alseep.
Next thing I know, I open my eyes, and the lights are going out, and I yell, "What's going on?" A nurse sticks her head in and says, "Who are you?" I tell her I've been waiting since 2:30, fell alseep, and she says, "Well, it's 5 oclock now. Noone's seen you?"
This is not a good day.

Hey J-
I can't believe they made you wait that long. You know they had me there til almost 2 in the afternoon the last time I saw you. Dr. U is just overloaded, and if he couldn't have seen you-Gayle shouldn't have made the appointment earlier saying he could. It's so crazy around there.
Well, blow off some steam and take it easy!
Congrats on the weight loss!

Hey Johanna,
I am so sorry for your troubles, but girl I know just how you feel. My docs office is just as poorly run. The last straw was when they insulted me and talked badly about my surgeon to me! When I finally got to see him post op (4 weeks post op to be exact because of office staff screw ups) I spilled my guts and told him everything. He was upset and hurt and embarrassed. Fortunately, this office is a part time deal for him and he has another office that he is at 4.5 days/week. I requested to transfer to the other office and he said by all means. He apologized over and over to me about the staff at the first office. I told him not to worry, I was a big girl, a nurse, and I knew how to handle such crap! He let a small little grin sneak out. I called the other office and made my appt and already I feel like I have known those girls for ever. They told me that the doc had informed them of my situation and to expect my call and that of many others that may transfer to the more permanent office. They apologized and asked if there was anything I needed to help accomodate my needs. I think this will be much better for me!!! Good luck honey, talk to the doc and keep him informed of what is going on. They often rely so heavily on office managers to keep things running smoothly but in my cir****tance it was the office manager who was causing the problems!!! PS. Dont give up on good follow up care... but don't be treated like a door mat either and it sounds like you know how to handle that one!!! Proud of you sweetie!
