Hi Shawna, Stop your stressing! You've lost 23 lbs in less than four weeks! Don't compare yourself to everyone else as far as weight loss goes. Everyone is different and there is a broad range of losses for everyone. It's awesome that you are walking every day, having your three protein shakes, that's good. Stay in touch with your doctor and as long as you are following orders, then I'm sure you have nothing to worry about. So many of us go through these fears. I had surgery exactly three weeks before you, I just hit thirty pounds lost. I lost five pounds this week, and yet only 2.5 each of the two weeks preceding this one. My calories are actually up from then, not by much, but they are higher. Your body and your metabolism have to adjust to all of this, and everyone does that at a different rate. So hugs to you, try not to worry, it sounds like you are doing GREAT! Love, Sue

Shawna, I had surgery on 9/14 and in the first 2 weeks I lost 22 pounds and then nothing else for 2 weeks. I was walking and doing my protein and following the rules too. My doc said to calm down... you're right on track. From what I have been able to tell it seems the heavier the person is the more weight that lose at the start. For someone that weighs over 300-350 they may lose 35-40 or more pounds that first few weeks. I was just under 250 and like I said lost only 22 pounds. I hope I haven't offended anyone... its just a personal observation... be patient sweetie, it will all come off. Besides your body is now in panic mode and thinks it is starving. its gonna hold onto those fat stores for a little bit... just as a protective device built in... it will change and then you will start dropping. Be patient.

Shawna, its sounds like you are doing great. I had surgery on 9/14/04 and I am 29 pounds down. Keep up the good work with the protein shakes and walking. I noticed at about 3 weeks post op my weight loss slowed down a little, but the next week I was back at about a pound everyday. Karen

Hi Shawna! I have lost 21 lbs since 9-22 the day I had surgery. I often worry that I am not losing anything. My last weeks visit with the doc only left me 2 lbs lighter but I am ok with this. Ia m eating right and I am ot getting alot of exercise becaueI have three openings in my incision and it hurts to walk alot but I know I will get there! Your doing a great job! Love Amybee

I also had my surgery 9/24/04. As of this morning I too last 23 lbs. 262 the morning of surgery 239 today. Although it seems like it is slow, it is almost a pound a day! You are doing great, if you are worried, try adding more water and doing a different for of exercise, maybe ride a bike instead! Good luck, Carmen

Shawna, I am six weeks post-op tomorrow. I have lost 32 lbs. I started at 251. I know what you mean about feeling like it is taking so long to come off. I wish I could wake up and be 100lbs thinner, but patience is a virtue. I was definitely where you are. I just had to chill, and stay away from the scale. Weighing everyday made me KRAZY! Good Luck!
