thanks peggy, johanna & greg for the encouragement on exercising - greg, the message you give is compelling and i will keep it in the forefront of my mind - we had a life-altering surgery and we could have died - take advantage now of the window of opportunity and move in any way possible. excellent points. i have been house-purging all my clothes, my child's clothing (he's 18 months), his newborn toys, books, etc for a giant yard sale next spring. that involves climbing up and down three flights of stairs carrying crates, tagging things and then boxing them up, washing/cleaning musty clothes of mine that i've had forever. the stairs are great exercise and i notice i can climb them so many many more times that before with no knee pain at all and easier. susan

Good for you... stairs give me a huge problem... I have no cartilage in my knees and they hurt so badly climbing stairs. I hope it improves as I lose but due to the damage I am not all that hopeful. I am walking alot though... about 2 miles a day. I bought a pedometer and am measuring what I walk for 24 hours... It sounds like you are really busy. Just be careful... you don't want to spend more time in the hospital with a hernia repair... It sounds like you are doing great!!! Congrats!!!
