PROTEIN INTAKE HELP

ANYONE GOT ANY SUGGESTIONS ON GETTING ALL YOUR PROTEIN IN ... I CAN'T STOMACH THE DRINKS AND I ALWAYS FORGET THE POWDER . I SHOULD BE TAKING 60-70 GRAMS NOW BUT I THINK I BARELY MAKE THE 40 GRAMS... HELP !!!!! I CAN STOMACH A MILK SHAKE IN THE MORNING WITH PROTEIN BUT NOTHING ELSE UNTIL AFTER 1:00 P.M. SIPS OF WATER ALL DAY. HOW ELSE CAN I GET MY PROTEIN IN?... I'M ON MY 3RD WEEK SO I GET CHICKEN AND TUNA THIS WEEK AND OTHER THINGS I JUST CANT REMEMBER WHAT ELSE...

Hi Rachel! My nutritionist says, "if you can hold it in your hand then you can't count it as protein." You have to get your protein from liquid and the best way is from your protein shakes. Have you tried ordering samples to find one that you like. My favorite is the Champion Stack Chocolate because it tastes like chocolate milk with no after taste. You can order samples at www.vitalady.com or www.valleynutrition.com they run between $1.50 and $1.99. The ones from vitalady will be more, but each sample will have at least 30 grams of protein while valleynutrition only sends out 1 scoop samples that have around 20 grams of protein. Good Luck! Julia

Since you are only getting a sample to try and see if you like it, why pay more than you have to? The protein content is not really why you are getting a sample, its the taste you are interested in. More protein from a sample wont really make a difference in the taste test.

Hi Joy! I have to drink 4-5 protein shakes a day with at least 30 grams of protein in each. With the one scoop samples, I only get around 20 grams so I have to make up for it later and that's way more drinking than I like to do. I actually ordered 33 samples from www.valleynutrition.com and was disappointed that I hadn't read the fine print about sample size. Now each time I use a sample I have to make up the extra 10 grams of protein to bring my drink up to 30 grams. It's just more work then I really want to do, but overall not a huge deal since it's a great way to sample new protein. Right now my taste buds are so fried from surgery that very few of the drinks taste good to me. Julia

I love bottles of pre-mixed ISOPURE zero carb, found at GNC. They come in flavors like kool-aid. Grape, Orange and Blue Raspberry are my faves!There is the slightest aftertaste to me, but pretty easy to get down otherwise. Each 20oz bottle has 40 grams of protein. Hope that helps! -KT

My dietician is the exact opposite. She recommends getting as much protein from food as possible, so I use Eggs, thin sliced deli turkey, chicken and fish. I guess different things work for different people. Kell

KELL, THANKS KELLY I THOUGHT OF THE SAME THING , I'M ON DELI MEATS, GROUND BEEF, GROUND TURKEY A LITTLE MORE VARIETY SO MAYBE IT WONT BE SO BAD WITH PROTIEN INTAKE ... THANKS AGAIN . RACHEL

Same here... the best advice is to start reading labels. I buy the Tysons chicken legs (already roasted) ..2 are 29 grams of protein. I will do one of those, for lunch (and maybe dinner too) an all beef hotdog with cheese for breakfast 9-10 grams of protein, milk 10grams/cup and my shake (42 grams per 17 ounce box) I tried all the powders and couldn't stomach the taste or the smell... I found Myoplex... original in choc, strawberry and vanilla... I have to divide it up into 3 or 4 servings because "Olivia" can't tolerate so much at once. I add 2-3 ounces of skim milk and 1 pak of splenda and I am set. Push come to shove I will grab an ounce of peanuts or almonds to knaw on... 6-10 grms/ounce. Just ordered some lemon cookies... 27 grms/cookie!!! I'll let you know about those. Hope this helps
