Im so thirsty at meal time
I have not been following the not drinking with meals and I am so thirsty after the meal it is very hard to wait 45 minutes. It doesn't seem to bother my eating. I just take a few sips if I really have to have water before it is time. But it is tuff not to have some nice ice water with my meal. Also, My eyes are bigger than my stomach I so want to eat a huge meal or run out for a big double cheese pepperoni and hamburg pizza. Sometimes these thoughts consume so much I end up going to bed just to get my mind to Shut UP!! I think IM going crazy !
I think your just normal. My surgeon always tells us that he fixed our tummy's not our brains. I never drink while I eat because I was told not to so I feel like I am doing something really bad if I do. I think you should try drinking before you eat. I am now at 20 minutes before and 20 minutes after. Maybe you could try that instead of the 45 minutes. Also, are you eating things with a lot of sodium or is it just an old habit that is hard to break? Either way just try taking it slow. I am sure you will be just fine.

Ditto what Shannon said... I am getting better with not drinking during meals but it has been very hard!!! I do have to take a sip to clear all the little particles left in my mouth. I have gotten choked a couple of times so I am willing to risk it for just a sip. And I limit myself to ONE SIP! Then thats it for 30 mins. The cravings will get better too. I would have beaten a small child for a peanut butter and jelly sandwich but i have fought the good fight and have not caved in and no child was harmed!!! I still want one but not craving it so badly. Good luck... it will get easier...

I have always been a water-o-holic. I know what you mean, I usually brush my teeth right after eating and it really helps. I can't stand the taste of food for 30 min after I eat until I can drink the water. It really helps me. If I can't brush, I chew gum.

Just thought I would let you know you are not alone. I also crave something to drink after I eat. I know that most of my meals have low sodium so I don't really know why this is happening. I usually try and wait about 15 or 20 minutes after I eat and then I drink my water. Sometimes I take 1 or 2 sips right after to get my mouth washed out. Oh and a comment about the mind wanting other good food that is not so good for us I go through the same thing and I also want to go and sleep so I won't think of it, but then I usually dream of that food. It is going to be very hard to control our minds. Sometimes it helps to just go and have some yogurt or a piece of cheese(low fat).

I sooo miss drinking with my meals!! I know it sounds gross but sometimes I work up a little saliva between bites to wa**** down. I am at the stage now where i miss the old days. I don't regret the decision to have wls but I would love to take big bites of delicious junk food. Today I ran my daughter to McD's to get a quick bite for her between activities. She was eating a big Mac and the smell of it was driving me CRAZY!! I would love to sink my teeth into one right now!!!
