Today (as every day****ep up with everything I eat/drink on fitday. I am 5 weeks post op today. Normally I am home to put in everthing as I do it but today I had to be out and didn't do that until tonight. It was then that I realized that I had 900 calories today and 90 grams of protein. My doctor said to shoot for 600-800 per day on calories and today was the first time I have ever gone near 800 much less 900. It wasn't food that put me there, mostly protein supplements. Do you think I did any damage this early out with that many calories? I know I am a worry wart but I don't want to mess this up!

Well I have no idea because I am 6 weeks out tomorrow and I am only suppose to be on 500-600 calories a day. I am sure one day won't do major damage. Like I said before our doctors are different. I wonder what calorie amounts other 5 week's or more are consuming? Shannon

NOT A PROBLEM!! DO NOT WORRY! Your body excretes excesses of protein.

Cindy, I am 6 weeks post op today. I use fitday also. My calories are averaging between 850 and 950. My surgeon is happy with that. I am barely even drinking protein drinks anymore, just getting in my protein as healthy food. I know I've read on here that some surgeons recommend around 1000 calories a day for weight loss to continue. I would stick to what your doc recommends, so if he's saying 600-800 a day, then of course stay with his plan, but certainly don't worry that you've screwed something up by having an extra few calories on that rare occasion. The doctor's recommendations are guidelines, and there is no one protocol which is written in stone as the only way. Lose the guilt/fear over the few extra calories and keep up the excellent work! (now if you go out and eat mcdonalds or an ice cream sundae, THEN we'll come kick your butt!) ~Sue

Hi Cindy! If you're really worried about the extra calories, then I suggest you go walk them off. I did 2 miles on the treadmill yesterday and it said I burned 150 calories. So just smile and walk it off! Julia
