It's been 2 and 1/2 weeks and I am amazed how well I am doing. I do get gas that settles in my lower tummy which can be very painful but gas-x helps and so does walking. Six days after my surgery I saw my surgeon for wound check. I lost 14lbs and was taken off one of my high blood pressure medications. I am having problems getting all 64ounces of water in me so I dilute it with cyrstal lite. I don't feel enthusiastic about getting on my treadmill like I thought I would feel. I think I might be going thru some blues. I know I've lost more weight than 14lbs because I see it in my clothes already and my watch slides completely around my wrist. My surgeon has me on 6 wks of pureed food which I am okay with but getting seriously bored with it. I am concerned about what to eat afterwards. I have to learn to cook healthy foods at home. Doc wants me to weigh my foods so I consume no more than 4 ounces. I take 45 minutes to eat but found I am a multi tasker type of person so the urge to read, watch TV, or whaterver is hard not to do. I don't eat the full 4 ounces but I eat only until satisfied. For all those who are past this 6 wks, what do you cook and eat?? I'm thinking of taking cooking classes so I'm not cooking the same things-meat, carb, vegie. Thanks for your suggestions ahead of time. Oh and as a side note, my husband has lost 8 lbs since my surgery!

Are you sure that your surgeon wants you to measure your food by weight instead of volume? 4 ozs. of a lighter weighing food would be a heck of alot in volume and we are dealing with a definite size in regards to our new pouches. I was always told to measure by volume and volume alone.... As for foods... there are alot of things to choose from. Are you on any meat products as of yet with your drs. plan? I myself started out with the cottage cheese and other soft cheeses. Also instant mashed potatoes and melt some pepper jack cheese in it... it is GOOD!... Soft scrambled eggs with a touch of picante' sauce (read your labels to watch sugar).... oatmeals..... steamed veggies... lots of things. One that my family loves and that is easy to make is cheese or chicken quesadilla's... very good and easy to blend items... you might not be able to eat the tortilla yet but you can eat the fillings.... just blend them very well... good protein and it tastes GOOD !.... I also make alot of homemade soups and stews... good protein and it can be pureed or "smushed" to the texture that you need... Crock pot cooking meats makes them very tender and juicy as well! Best wishes... Elizabeth~

Elizabeth, Thank you for your input! Yes, I must weigh all my food to weigh no more than 4 ounces. The thicker the food the less I can eat which is okay with me. I just got my crock pot out too! If you have any stew or soup recipes that you don't mind passing along that would be great. Stay Well... Colleen
