What am I doing wrong?

My surgeon has said a few times that if the weigh stops coming off try lowering your calories. I don't know because I am not a professional but maybe you could try 400-450 calories a day for a week, see if that helps any. Make sure the calories and the protein you are taking in are good for you. Check the sodium in the foods your eating. To much isn't good for you. If your drinking the propel water I have heard many stories of people not loosing because they are drinking it. If you've exhausted all those options then call your doctor's office, they can help you or try your nutritionist. Maybe your scale is off. Try going to your surgeon's office and weighing your self on his/her scale. I wish you the best. Shannon

Hey Shannon, This is what my surgeon tells his patients. 1. Pureed foods for the 1st six weeks. 2. Weigh all your foods-no more than 4 ounces per meal and only 3 meals a day. This is for all patients! 3. Drink 64 ounces of water a day. 4. Walk 2 miles a day (work up to it.) 5. Attend all Bariatric meetings. 6. Get plenty of rest. I weigh all my foods and take 45 minutes to eat my meal. I also don't drink 1 hr before a meal & 1 hr after a meal. I don't drink during a meal and when I do drink, it's sipping, no straw. My surgeons patients are successful when they follow these guide lines. I decided to not weigh myself until I see the Doctor again. I am personally trying to concentrate on the reasons why I am obese, making the changes and trying not to obsess about the weight loss. I know it will come off at whatever pace my body chooses. I can only do the best I can and follow my Dr.'s guideline. Maybe you can try these guide lines. Take care & Hang in there! ~Colleen~

Hi, I am a newbie too, but I just wanted to add if you are exercising you may notice a slow down in weight loss because you are gaining muscle and that is an EXCELLENT thing to happen. I dont pay attention to the scale too much, just how my clothes are fitting. Dont be a slave to the scale! Vanessa

I spoke to a woman who is 7 months out and looking great at my support group meeting last night and she said to measure yourself, as that helps when you aren't losing weight, your body may be changing in terms of where you hold the fat. She said she measures the following: Neck Upper arm Lower arm wrist bust waist hips upper thigh knee calf ankle Hope this helps! Kell

What a relief to read this thread. I am 2 weeks post op and after 10 days had lost 23 lbs. Since last Friday, I haven't lost anything. I thought it was too soon for this to happen, but thankfully, you all seem to have hit stalls at some point this month. I finally decided today after reading a reply on the CT board to trust in the process...so this is what I am going to *try and do. Best of luck to everyone!

looks like you're losing a pound per day. Sounds terrific. Sounds like you are doing everything right.

Thank you for starting this thread. I had my surgery 9/27 and at my 2 week check appointment I had lost only 12 lbs. Others there who had surgery the same day had lost in the 30's and one man in the 40's. So I was sooooo depressed. My husband was fussing at me about not getting down and keep up the good work. Still I was down. Its taken me 5 days to get over it and figure nearly a pound a day is a good thing and wow! think where you'll be in 100 days. Its great to hear others with the same worries.
