Can have too much? Pouch Size?
Does anyone feel like they can have more in their pouch than in the beginning? Like if you could only have a 1/4 of non-sweetened apple juice and now you notice you can have a whole cup of the same apple juice?
I don't know I think I'm just surprised at how much the pouch can hold...or whatever. Is anyone else noticing that or is surprised also?
Liquids and even most full liquid/really pureed foods funnel through your tummy.... you don't really start to feel restriction/fullness til you start adding in foods that are of more substance. That is why it is so important to measure your foods and not go over that amt.
I am just starting into my 3rd week postop and I notice right away (while still in the hospital) that I did not have problems getting my liquids in. I was worried there for awhile as I was expecting this sipping thing all the time... I can say it ISN'T an issue for me...and never has been...
Best wishes....

I had this conversation with the dietician on Friday. Fluids go through your stomach - you can't judge how much the stomach can hold by fluids. For example, I can drink 16 oz of water in 1/2 hour. I was freaked out by this, until she assured me that it's OK. However, I have slowed down because it makes my stomach queezy doing that.
The test that she likes to use it cottage cheese. Try 1/4 cup of cottage cheese, then another if you don't feel full. I found that I can eat the 1st 1/4 cup and not quite all of the 2nd 1/2 cup.
As far as the liquids go, I am sure that as the swelling goes down we are able to hold more but then again the liquids pass through a lot easier then the solids. I can have 1/2 cup of cottage cheese now as opposed to the 1/4 I had when I first started eating it. There are days when I can eat more of the same thing I ate less of the day before. The pouch is like the size of a small egg so in reality we aren't holding alot. The portions you are having really aren't big. When I feel like I am eating more I compare it to what I use to eat and I know there is a huge difference.
