They removed the drain today and I was wondering how long before it stops ooozing? How long did yours take? Thanks, KD

I had my drain removed on 10/6 and it oozed for 3 days. It stopped for 1 1/2 days and then started again. I called the Dr. because it was think and smelly and they said come in. I found out that it was infected and had to get cut open 1 inch wide 3/4 inch deep! Originally the Dr said it should only leak 24hrs. If it doesn't stop soon after that call your MD. Good Luck! Mike

Mine was dressed when I left the hospital, as they took it out right before. I changed the dressing 2 days later and there was a little on the gauze that had dried up and I healed really quick. I hope the same for you! Kell

They took my drain out on my 1-week check-up, and that incision didn't ooze, but 3 of my other incisions did. It only lasted 2 or 3 day's. They had me wash them with soap and water in the shower, and then keep gauze on them. They said just to watch the incision and make sure the red around the incision doesn't spread or get redder. Good Luck, Donna

Thank you very much!! I feel a lot better. I had to change my Gauzes 10 times yesterday. I thought it was never going to stop. It is slowing down a bit this morning. Thanks again.

That has to feel 100% better, I was reading a post last week where you said you were having some trouble with the drain, I'm glad for you it's out. As for the other question, my drain was removed the day I left the hospital and really didn't have much drainage after that. Joyce
