I'm 2 days shy of 4 wks out and had approx. 1 oz of canned crab meat sprinkled with molly mcbutter. I haven't vomitted but am severly lactose intolerant and had to have my diet bumped up to include canned meats, thin sliced lunch meat, etc.... I have a very hard time getting my protein in. I usually only get 20-25 gms in dly. My doctor wants me to get in approx. 70. Hope everything is going good. Sheila

Emily, I haven't really had "supper" yet. I am not sure what to have, but am thinking of having some Isopure with skim milk. (Have to wait till my fluid intake time is up first) I have not had that yet and have some around here. I thought I could only mix it with water, but from what my support group said, you can mix it with milk too. It sounds better that way to me. I have a tough time getting in my total protien/fluids for the day as I can't even sit down over an hour most of the time and drink a full 8 oz. I know it will get better, however I just worry how it all effects my weight loss and health of my body. Hope things are going well for you. Great post btw, it's nice knowing how others are doing that are near a simular spot in life like we are. Warmly, Sherri B

I am 5.5 weeks post-op. I had crab salad for dinner. It was good but it made me sleepy. Probably because it was that imitation crab which I think has some sugar in it. Won't be having that too often. One thing I have found that I like are the Lean Cuisine low carb meals. They have about 10 varieties. They include a small protein portion and a veggie portion, usually in some kind of sauce. The carbs are all between 8-13 grams, and the portions are not too big. The calorie counts are between 180-210 ish, each. That's if you eat the whole thing, which most people probably can't early post op. They do not include starches such as potatoes, pasta, rice or noodles. Just a meat and a veggie in a low sugar sauce. I've had these a couple of times and done well. Just a thought if your dr. has advanced you to these types of foods. ~Sue

1 cup of cream of chicken soup with 1 scoop Whey Natural Protein blended in and then heated. That was about all I could eat.

My surgery was on 9/22 so we are all about the same date. It is very helpful to see what you are all eating. I am still on full liquid until Friday when I switch. I have a feeding tube which will be discontinued on Friday. I had my first protein powder drink mixed the crystal lite today. It was ok and I got it down easily. Yesterday I had one spoon of the soup for dinner and it got stuck. It was there about an hour before it moved. This is the first time for this. Needless to say I threw the soup away! Today was better I got applesauce and sopu in so far. Please keep up the email on what we are eating....it is so helpful Rosey

My fave right now is Basil-garlic chicken salad. I pre-make it with one of the rotisserie chickens at the grocery store (usually only $5) and my hubby puts it in a pita for lunch. I just dice the chicken really small and add basil and granulated garlic with some lite mayo (just enough to wet it) and it is really good. Some ground pepper if you like, I love it with pepper. I sometimes put it on some low-fat swiss cheese squares (one slice cut in 4) and chew chew chew. Usually 2 of these is a meal. Kell

At almost 3 weeks post op, I am having a hard time eating enough to get that protein in. I heard about a great product called Any Whey. It has very little taste and can be added to almost anything with one scoop having 17 g. of protein. I had some egg drop soup that I boosted with some extra egg and the Any Whey powder. It came to over a cup, so I ate it very slowly over a 2 hour period.
