Hi, well here I am a week post op.. everything going ok. except the protein drinks make me sick. I cant drink them. .I called my dietician and she said my body might be be toleratig the skim milk i bought to mix them with, I bought low fat skim milk powder any idea what to do with it. .. any body close to me want two big jars of choc/vanilla praline whey protein powder. Also, my diet seems to only consist of Chicken broth, sugar free jello and creme of wheat. Can anybody suggest anything else i can eat 1 week post op. I did see my dietician but i dont think anything registered. HELP.

Good morning. I was on clear liquids for 2 weeks. That consisted of jello, water, ice tea, crystal light, popsicles and broths; I was not allowed protein drinks until the 3rd week. One thing I did get the first 2 weeks which were a little more satisfying was cream of chicken soup (instant) by Lipton. It is in an envelope. It was consider "clear liquid." It kind of had a thicker consistency. I also use "Unjury" protein drink. I got chocolate and make a shake (after 2 weeks) with 1 cup of skim and one scoop (20 grams of protein) and lots of ice. Put it in a blender and crush the ice. It is pretty good and tastes like a shake. When I drink them it feels like I am doing something bad , but I am not. I also purchased Unjury non-flavored. You can put that in your drinks (i.e. ice tea, crystal light). It is 20 grams of protein. If you have any other questions please let me know. Happy losing J.

Michelle, I use ISOPURE protein drinks in the glass bottle. They have many flavors, and have 40 grams of protein per 20oz bottle. They are usually sold at GNC stores for about 3$ each. I drink 1/2 of one a day. Also, my DR. doesn't do a liquid diet. He has his patients go straight to pureed foods, so I would be willing to be you could eat mashed potatoes, mashed beans (pinto), grits, or anything like that and be ok! Do what feels right for you! Congrats and remember you are safe in the Lord's hands! -Katie 1month post-op (-26lbs.)

Hi Michelle, My doctor said I could eat instant potatoes on my liquid diet. Make them thin and if you have left overs you can put it in ice trays and freeze them. One cube is an oz. and it is a change from the broths, it is more filling. Sometimes I put a little beef or chicken gravey on them for more flavor. I came off liquids yesterday and got a Healthy Choice potaoes and turkey with gravey and had it for lunch. It has 18gram of protein. Best of luck, those liquids will be over soon.
