2 week follow-up & a question....
Hi Everyone!
I had my two week follow-up today and FINALLY got the second half of my staples removed. I think I'm a slow loser compared to what others have reported losing at 2 weeks. I weighed in with an 11 pound weight loss since surgery and a 21 pound total loss with the pre-surgery diet. Here's where I have a question....
Do you all follow the weight loss from the doctor's office or do you follow the weight loss from your home scale?
The nurse at the doctor's office said that everyone complains about their scale and that she's sure it's off. So, I'm thinking that from now on I'm just going to follow my own scale. According to my scale I have a total loss of 25 pounds and that makes for a bigger smile.
Sending happy healing vibes to all!!
Julia
Julia,
I had my 2-week follow up today also.
I would go with yours because that is what you will be weighing on all of the time.
Just remember all of us lose at different rates. The people, like myself, that have more to lose, will lose a lot faster than people that don't have as much to lose. Just like my friend had the surgery in June and she has lost 66 lbs, and needs to lose a total of about 130 lbs. But me, I just had surgery 2 weeks ago today and I have lost 45 lbs, but I have a total of 255 to lose.
So don't get discouraged, you are doing great.

I follow my surgeon because that is the one that gets written down and that is the one my whole weight loss goes by. What kind of scale does your surgeon have? Is it one of the old fashion kinds or the newer digital one? If it is one of the older kind I would go by yours because those aren't balanced as good as teh digital ones. Besides, your doing great. Don't worry about everyone else. There are goign to be days when others loose more then you and then there will be days when your loosing more then anyone. Some how it all balances out. 25 is awesome by the way.....

Hi Shannon!
My doctor has a digital scale, but I had weighed just before I left home and there was a 4 pound difference between the two scales. I think I'm just going to follow my scale for now since the office visits are going to be farther apart soon. I'm happy with my weight loss and will continue to be happy as long as the scale is moving in the right direction.
Thanks!
Julia
Like I tell my patients, it does not matter what scale you use. If you use the one at home and conistently weigh on it, it will show a weight loss or weight gain. Most physician scales weight in more, but consistency is what counts. It will show the same weight loss from your last visit. So, if you lose 10 lb. on your scale at home (no matter what you started at) it will show 10 lb. weight loss at the doctors. Even though the starting numbers are different the weight loss is the same. J.
