I had surgery on 9/17/04. I am on pureed foods now for about two weeks. My stomach still hurts and wearing this binder is starting to make my back hurt. I need some help and any food ideas would be great too. Thank you.

Welcome! I asked my doctor if I could ditch my binder after one week and he said it was ok. He said it was for my comfort anyway. You may want to ask your doc if it's ok to stop. As far as food ideas... soups are the obvious choice during puree. You can get many yummy kinds and they fill your pouch so nicely! Take care, ~Sue

Welcome To Our Board I must live in a shell but what was the reason you had to wear a binder? I didn't and I wasn't sure if maybe we had different types of surgery. I am not sure what your eating but they make canned tuna's, chicken and turkey. You could try one of those, add a little mayo to it. I like chili from Wendy's. I get a small, I only eat the beans though. I have had 50/50 results with the chili. Some times I eat it and I feel great sometimes I eat it and I get sick. Also re-fried beans with a little cheese is pretty good. You can get any kind but since I like Taco Bell I buy that kind. If you have any other recipes let us know. I am always looking for something else to eat. Shannon

Hey I can totally relate to the binder thing my doc wants me to wear it when I out and about until my vist on the 15th. We had surgery on the same day I too have been struggling with food. However, this site has been a great help. One thing I have tried and found I love is boiled cailiflower with a bit of butter and salt and pepper puree it and it is like mashed potatoes. Wow it is so good. Today I tried wendy's chili blended up not to bad it was a nice change of pace. I checked out this site recommed by some others here called fit day which will help you see your food intake (make sure you get your protein). Another big thing I have been eating is poached eggs and cottage chesse (great protein). Also I have found if I just chop up food then chew it and chew it more I don't always have to use the blender or chopper. Green Giant Vegetalbe (frozen) like creamed spinach, broccili and chesse sauce seem to go down well for me too. I also have made boiled yams (plus a bit of butter and salt) which mash up nice and taste great. I have tried the shaved turkey and chicken (remember chew and chew) did ok with it tomorrow I'm going to try tuna. Hope some of this helps and hope the weight just pours off.... Have a great day...
