Just wanted to say congrats to all of you. I was supposed to have my surgery Sept.30 but backed out right as they were fixin to put the IV in. Its a very long story but needless to say I just got scared & freaked out. I have an appt tomorrow to talk to my surgeon about what happened so we will see how it goes from there. I just want to say I think you all are so brave & awesome for taking charge of your lives & making a decision to do something about it. Good Luck & Best Wishes to all of you. I want to be a loser like all of you Love, Brandy

Hiya Brandy I know exactly how you feel about needles......I am scared to death of them!!! I asked my doctor if I could have something before the IV but he just numbed my wrist alittle (which didnt help) but just know that the fear and pain of the IV is nothing compared to a life that we will have when this is all said and done. I went through with mine on 9-20-04 scared or not I really wanted this done and all went fine. TRY AGAIN and let us know how it goes..... maybe she can help... take care, Rebecca

I read your profile and I don't blame you one bit. The nurses are supposed to 'nurse' you not yell at you. I was partially sedated that I remember them asking me to scoot my bottom over on to the surgical table a bit, I saw my surgeons face, the anesthesiologist (sp?) telling me he was going to give me a little more 'happy juice' as I called it and I was out until I saw my hubby and family. I would reccomend telling the doc that you need to be sedated a bit first and you'll be fine. I cried before too, I was so nervous. Fortunatley one of the surgical tech's had the surgery done by my surgeon and she looked great and she knew exactly what I was going through, so it was much easier for me. She held my hand and was so sweet. You may want to see if there is a specific nurse that you wish to deal with or something like that. You are the 'customer' not just a patient. Keep your head up and do what is right for you.

Brandy, I see you are from AL. I am from Birmingham, but live in Missouri now with my husband who is in the service. Roll Tide! Anyhoo~do not even feel bad about not going through with the surgery. When our minds and bodies truly feel something is not for us--it's usually not. Just remember there is a guiding hand in our lives through the Lord. You'll get to surgery when the right time has come, and we'll all be here to continue to support you! -Katie

Brandy, I almost did the same thing. My surgery was suppose to be on the 20th, but it didn't happen until the 22nd. On the 20th they had me all prepped and ready to go (not asleep yet) and they stooped because the consent form wasn't with my file. They wouldn't let my husband sign a new one, and I already had drugs in my system so they wouldn't let me sign a new one. They moved me to a room and I just hung out for 2 day's. My doctor couldn't get a room for the 21st, so he bumped someone on the 22nd to fit me in. I knew this was an Oman, but I was going to do it anyhow. And I did, and I am so glad I did it. I do hope you get another chance, and I hope everything goes better for you, because it is so worth it. Good Luck, Donna
