3 week check up

I am very happy to report that I have lost 18 pounds in almost 3 weeks! I was so excited when I left the doctor's office yesterday. I guess in the back of my mind I feel I am going to fail at this too, like so many other times I have tried to loose weight. But yesterday I had a great feeling that this just really may work!!! The only concern I have is that I don't have another scheduled appointment. IM suppose to call when I am ready for a fill. To tell you the truth I feel kinda left out in the cold. I am going to start regularly attending my support group, I think that will help me feel less alone. Is this how it works for others as far as seeing the doctor just once and no more appointments? I would feel left out also. We do : 1week after leaving the hospital, 2 weeks after that = 1 month , 3 months, 6 months, 1 year, then you are on your own. But we are reccomended to see our Primiary Dr starting between the 1 & 3 month visits. I would get on top of this. Make sure you are being followed. You need regular check up to ensure you are not getting malnurished. Hope that helps Cheryl B 9/28/04

I think this is pretty normal for the lap band. My surgeon does fills no sooner than 6 weeks post op, if you feel you need one. And if you think you do, then call and make a appointment. Then after a couple weeks or so you feel your restriction still isn't good enough, make another appointment. At least, that's how it works with my doc. I like it! Oh yes, and I love my support group, I definantly recommend one! Amanda

I had RNY so I see my doctor for a while afterwards. I think the support meetings are great though. Being able to talk to people in your shoes is always helpful. And even if your afraid to ask something you can almost always guarantee someone else there will ask that very same question. Sounds like your doing great though. CONGRATS!!!! Shannon
