I would follow the directions of your surgeon and who ever else he sends you to. I am sure your PCP is a great doctor but sometimes they don't fully understand the process. She is having you eat the soft foods because anything else can be harsh. I was on the liquids for a while, I just tried the pureed foods and so far my tummy can't handle it. Some meats are to fiberous and can cause issues with your tummy. The surgeon sent you to that nutritionist because she knows what you need to be eating. I was told by my nutritionist that on week 4-5 I could have a piece of toast. Yougurt was something some of us could have right away. The tomato soup is a liquid without any chunky stuff in it and goes down easily. I am curious, when you went to see the nutritionist did she happen to give you any kind of handout that outlined what you should be eating, what stages and at what week????? Unfortunantly each city, state etc seems to do their diets differently. Since your surgeon is the one who did your operation I would follow his/her advice at this stage of your recovery. I hope that helps you. Shannon

I agree, I would follow what your surgeon says, because they do this kind of surgery all the time and have a detailed program that helps to ensure your success. I would also have your surgeon call your PCP so that they can be on the same page and not be giving you conflicting information. Brook

Yes, I totally agree with having the surgeon call your PCP. That is the best way to keep them on the same page. Luckily my PCP always tells me to go with what the surgeon says. He said that he trusts my surgeon and if he says something I need to stick with that. I hope your doing better and not so conflicted... Shannon
