the new body

Weirdness is the only way I can explain my new body. Some days I can eat my whole bowl of cream of wheat. Others I can't even finish half of it. After almost everything I eat I get a tummy ache. I can eat something one day and then the next I can't. I have days when I don't remember to eat and I sometimes have to force myself and then there are a few nights when I am actually hungry. Strange strange me.... However, I did my measurements today and the total inches down is 19. I knew my face went down but it is nice to see the hips, thighs, chest and neck are slowly shrinking too. Heck even my ankle's and wrist's both lost 1/2 inch a piece. The scale I have which doesn't actually go up as high as I weigh but moves down as I loose has been moving a little each day. For like 4 days I didn't see it move at all so I tried like hell to increase my protein and I think it worked. I won't know for sure until I make a trip to Dr. Phol's office at the end of this month. I technically don't see him again until December but I can't wait that long to officially weigh myself. Luckily he lets people come in and weigh themselves whenever they want. How is everyone else? Are you all experiencing anything like I am? I had my surgery on September 3rd so I am 4 weeks out now. For those of you 1-3 or so days out just let me say even though I am complaining about things it is so much better. I does get better and that I can guarantee. Shannon

Hi Shannon, My body is strange too. Sometimes have way too much head hunger, then other nights forget all about food. I go crazy from self doubt and then I get tired of that second guessing myself and put it all to rest for a while. I took my measurements also this week. I wish I had done it sooner, but oh well. It's part pouch and part brain adjustment, I really do think everything is fine. I hope your tummy feels better soon! ~Sue

My body is acting weird on me too. I am getting my fluids in but for some reason I am not peeing enough like I used to. My legs are swelling up again just like before surgery. Good thing I am seeing my doctor again tomorrow. I have to see him every 3 weeks after surgery for 3 months to make sure I am doing ok. Maybe I just need water pills? This is making it hard for me to do my walking as well. Oh well, life goes on.. Keep up your good work. Doreen

Hey, Doreen/surgery twin!! Same with me with the fluid retention.... BUT, I have been on diuretics for some 40 years for high BP, so I think my body just depends on them now.... They had cut it in half after surgery, but I have had to up it back to where it was. I still find it hard to get in the fluids...........water makes my stomach hurt, and crystal light does not appeal to me anymore at all.......... About the hunger...SAME!! Some days the food goes down so easily, and I am feeling hunger off and on............some days I have to fight with my pouch to get anything down..........very strange.
