Just to introduce myself here - Rae, from Indiana - surgery by Dr. Cacucci at St. Vincents, Carmel, IN - 215lbs, 5'1". Came home two days post op and doing my routine, protein, water, breathing and walking but boy, am I gassy and running to the BR with watery eliminations~ I was surprised to gain weight after the surgery - nearly 10lbs! But I know it's due to the surgery and that will be coming off with all my other weight. Drain is due out on Monday AM - can't wait! Rae

Rae, While everything your going through is totally normal I am sure it is also very uncomfy. I am glad your surgery was as sucess and that your home. That gain while in the hopsital will come off soon and you will start loosing before you know it. I hope the drain coming out is painless and maybe it will make you more comfy. Shannon

Hi Rae Nice to meet you! Welcome home! ;) Things get better and better every day. On Sunday, it will be my mark of one week home from my surgery. Hang in there. Oh, and I too was so suprised and not happy at all with the weight gain too from WLS/hospital congrats on your surgery. The first few days I was home I just still couldn't believe I had finally did it!!! I was so excited. I also went through a little depression too. What's a little gas, a few tears and some watery elimination among friends! Seriously, Good Luck! Michelle

Hi, glad to hear you are doing well. Both the gass and the watery eliminations should go away. I had the same problem after surgery. I still am belching up a storm, but have been assured that it will eventually go away. Good luck on having your drain removed. Brook

I can totally sympathesize with you. I gained TWENTY FOUR lbs in the hospital! It was water retention from the IV fluids. Glad your drain is coming out soon. I HATED having a drain. It was so painful.

Hello Rae, Nice to meet you. Glad to hear that you are doing so well! I had gas and the runs.in the hospital and at home. The gas and the bathroom was just a little to much for me. It does get better especially if you walk around just a bit every few hours or so. I also gained 10lbs!! Lost 5 the next day, whew! that was really scary.. When they begin to take out the drain. Take a deep breath and exhale slowly. I feels really strange for about 3 seconds. Take care! Margaret

Thanks all for writing me! So good to know that "this too shall pass"! I definitely look forward to getting the tube out. I don't mind the protein drink at all, and most of the Gerber Stage 2 foods are pretty good. I have a few questions to ask my surgeon and the nutritionist on Monday but otherwise have been very compliant and trying hard to remember to breathe and walk!! Rae
