I had surgery 9/27/04 and came home 9/29/04 of course in the hospital my pain was managed well but I am having pain now in abdomen and lower back, I take Liguid Lortab that knocks me out but when it wears off and I am awake the pain is back...the other problem I have is severe gas and bloating....anyone have any ideas on how to manage that?

Walk to get rid of the gas, you move it around. I had problems with gas getting caught under my ribs and shoulders and I'd do a couple of laps in the hosp and I felt a lot better. Not to be vulgur, but burping and passing gas will help a ton. Don't hold it in and you'll feel it get a little better each time. My surg was 9/23/04, so I'm only a few days ahead of you, but I felt your pain a few days ago. It did go away pretty quick because I have been as active as possible. Kell

Hello Jodie (fellow Loser) I know the pain. I had to wait the weekend to get my prescription filled. I was so uncomfortable!!! I used Liquid adult Tylenol and that really helped with pain. You are lucky to be able to sleep. I have Not had one full night of sleep yet!! Each night does get better, I am so looking forward to a full night of sleep on my tummy!! I am not used to sleeping on my back!!! Walk every few hours to get the gas out, that is the only way. Best wishes, Margaret

Welcome home Jodie! I would say the best thing you can do is walk or atleast move around. I have had a little problem with gas here and there and walking, even sometimes just standing up, helps. Good luc****ep us posted! -DJ

I didn't have gas when I came home but I am starting now to have it with everything I eat. Walking, lying down and sometimes sitting helps to get it up. Once you find something that works, go with it. Sorry your in pain. It should go away soon. It is important to make sure you get it in before it starts wearing off. Once it starts wearing off the pain takes longer to get rid of. Your only a few days out so before you know it you will start feeling a lot better. Best of luck to you... Shannon
