Had surgery on Sept 20th..back pain?

I had surgeyr on the 20th of September and was battling intense back pain for a week. My surgery went well, they took my gall bladder as well....but my back, shoulder, ribs were so painful that they sent a massage therapist up to work on my back. My surgeon said that I'm not the only patient who has complained of this. Anyone else had this problem? I have been using Icy Hot, which has been a miracle drug... but my hopital stay was very difficult. I have been home for almost a week and each day am gettting better.

The first 2 days after surgery my back hurt. I figured it was the bed. Once I added a few more pillows and played with the way the bed was positioned I felt much better. I hope it goes away soon and you can start feeling better. Shannon

Did they put something under your knees during surgery? If not that's probably the cause for your backache. You were lying flat on your back for a very long time on a very hard surface.

Well, they said they had pillows under my knees, but think it may have helped to have them under my shoulders as well.
