Hello!
I am scheduled for surgery on Wednesday....RNY, hopefully lap. I was wondering how long it will be before I can go back to work? I teach first grade and can do alot of it without any strenuous physical stuff...I don't pick up the children or anything!
Anyone have any advice or experience with this?
Thanks!
Dawn
Hi Dawn
I teach in Special Ed and my Dr. told me to plan on being out 6 weeks for strenuous/physcial work and for instruction WITHOUT strenuous/physical activities, you can then go back at 4 weeks. Check with your Dr. first though because each Dr might be different as far as recovery time. I know I have to plan on being out the 6 weeks--thank goodness I have the sick time accumulated. Keep me posted as to what your surgeon orders for you OK? Good Luck
Hugs

Hey Dawn,
I teaching reading to first graders, and was told I could go back in four to six weeks. I opted for the full six weeks, since I have the sick time, and I tend to be a fairly low energy person. I had the surgery Tuesday, and was released today, and am feeling okay, but not great. I had the laprascopic RNY, but I was really in quite a bit of pain the next day. Each day has gotten better; I am definitely in need of my pain meds RIGHT when they are due, and then I'm all amazed at how much better I feel. Good luck, and I hope all goes well for you!
