Greetings and congrats to those on the losing side! I need help. Is anyone having diarehea (sp?)? I am every single day. My doc says this is normal and to keep taking milk of magnesia and suppositories. What is the deal here? Anyone else having this problem?? thanks!

What are you eating? Maybe too much sugar in the things you are putting in?

Contrats on your surgery. My surgery was 09/02/04. I had diarrhea for about 6 days, now it has subsided. I was not allowed to take MOM for it or anything like that. So, hopefully yours will go away too. I do not know if you are allowed to eat anything. I am not allowed until tomorrow. When I had it I kept thinking "where is this coming from" no food, where is it coming from. Dr. and PA said it was normal also. Keep up with the fluids. J.

alrighty i will explain... ur in the first stage so therefore youll only consuming liquids well there is no chewing so therefore the bowel movement cant form so until you get some chunkier food in ya your stools are goin to look like mud... dont worry i am havin the same ones i just had the surg on the 9th... its like a new born infant until cereal is added to the bottle the child has the runs .... so we are normal just dont worry about it...

Ok, whoa, first of all MOM and supps would make you have MORE diarrhea. I too am having the loose stools, went to the clinic yesterday as am feeling so fatigued. Advised to take fiber; citracel, metamucil and lomotil or immodium to slow it down as I have been having >6 stools per day. Am looking forward to this time being over, sigh.

I am every single solitary day EXCEPT the one. But then it went right back to it. Isn't pretty thats for sure. I hope it ends soon. Shannon

I am still pre-op but just went to my pre-op class yesterday and on our doctors list for RNY patients they have Imodium listed. The diahrea is normal but the risk is that you may become dehyrated. Of course every doctor is different but you may want to ask about the imodium and then of course you want to make sure you have enough fluids going in to keep you from becoming dehydrated.

Not sure what you're taking for calcium supplements, but I know that even before surgery Tums wreaked havoc on my bowels. I'm four days post op, and I've also had a similar problem, but its been mostly manageable at this point. I'm checking into some different sources for calcium, though, since thats likely to aggravate it for me. Good luck! Lesley
