I just had my pre op visit and every thing seemed ok, so we are going ahead. I am wondering what I can buy for the first two weeks after surgery. Jello, Sugarfree ice pops, broth, is all they have listed. That seems pretty limited to me......

Hi Kathy, I had to stay on liquids only in the hospital after my lap RNY and now I am on pureed foods, but I have to tell you, I find that I really don't have much of an appetite. I pretty much have to remind myself to eat and then I go for whatever is highest in protein. While I was on the liquid diet in the hospital, they gave me Jello, broth and decaf coffee and tea. Also, water. All I can really take though is a couple of tablespoons. I never drank the coffee or tea since I had the broth first. That filled me up. I always saved the Jello for "later", but never ate it! I still find I am doing the same with pureed foods, and I have a much larger selection! I thought that this would really bother me, since I love to cook and I also love food, but I am having absolutely no problem. At least so far. I don't think there is really too much else to have on the liquid diet. I hope this helps. God Bless and God Speed to you on a safe and uneventful surgery. Cindy

Every doctor is different. I was having broth, jello, and diluted juices. I bought Sf jello, broth, Sf popsicles, and cyrstal light for home. Your doctor didn't give you a list? I have had alittle of all of what I had bought. The popsicles are really good nice and cold. Ihave to get in 6 0z of liquid an hour. And all the things count as liquid. But call your doctor , because eveyone doesn't come home on liquids. Good luck, Shirley
