FIRST FULL DAY HOME AND A DISASTER
Hi everyone.
It's my first full day home and it started off very badly. I woke up in terrible pain from laying in bed to long (5 hours overnight) and then I had to call an ambulance for my hubby. He told me that he had chest pains all night and I got really scared. He has a history of heart problems. So, He's now in the hospital and they will be keeping him a couple of days. He just called me. They think it's angina brought on by stress. I was so worried because I couldn't go to the hospital with him and kept thinking that it's all my fault.
Is it normal to have a burning sensation at the main incision site? The burning sensation is not on top but inside. I had Lap RNY. I did some stupid things this morning, like cleaning my bathroom(I do things like that when I'm nervous) and did alot of bending and some lifting.
Thanks
Cindy
Well I find that if I wake up on either one of my sides after sleeping all night I have a terrible ache in my side. I also have started with this piercing burning in the incision area. I get this pulsating pain too but it goes away. I think it is normal but if you have any major issues call your surgeon's office. Someone should be there to better assist you.
I hope that helps.

I am sorry your first day was so dramatic! I wont have my surgery until Seot. 21 but I remember when I had my gall blader surgery that I was told not to lift or do housework for 4 weeks & hot to lift mire than 5 lbs. I understand your concern for your husband, but you didnt cause his angina. I have had angina attacks & am trying to learn other ways to deal with stress other than taking it out on myself. It is not easy. Good luck on yourr recovery, take it easy, no liftihg or cleaning, have Friends & relitives help for 2 weeks.

Hi Cindy,
Sorry you had such a crazy first day home! I hope your hubby's ok, I'm sure he's in good hands. If he was stressed because of your surgery and that caused angina, it's only because he cares about you and was worried. That's no reason for you to feel guilty. Hope things get better each day with you and him, I'm sure they will. As far as your burning incision, mine does that when I do too much even now on day 10. So, try to take it easy, the cleaning can wait a bit, and take care of yourself. Then you and hubby can take it easy and recuperate together when he gets home. I'll say a prayer for you guys both that everything turns out ok!

Cindy,
My, some people will do anything for some excitement! My husband has multiple sclerosis and also got very stressed out. Mini-relapse, and yes I do feel guilty, but, I'll tell you the truth, he wasn't as supportive as he should have been and I think he may have been dealing with his own guilt causing him stress. If the men in our lives won't share their feelings, we cannot take on the guilt; we didn't even know they were stressed!
I'm 1 week post-op today and not having much fun...heartburn, which may be what you were describing also. They fished my stomach out of my diaphragm (hiatal hernia) to do surgery. I'm having lots of trouble getting my protein in and that's never been a problem for me. Oh well, dr visit tomorrow.
Be careful, don't overdo it......Thanks, Dee
