Protein Shakes and Jello
Eric and I are on protein shakes (12 oz of Lactaid milk + 1 package of Revival chocolate dream soy protein powder). While we miss food and are hungry.. the shakes taste really good. (so weird) They actually taste better each day. We can also have sugar free Jell-O, chicken broth, and beef broth. Last night we had lime Jell-O. You know.. Jell-O is good, but it does not fill you up at all. OH well. The worst is when my throat hurts because I'm SOOOOOO hungry! Sometimes I have trouble concentrating.
Why did I start this post again? I ... forgot. Well, later all. Have to get ready for the day.. I think I'll go have a shake or broth or something.
EAS (makers of Advant Edge) have a Fruit Punch and Grape flavored drink that is zero carb, zero fat and 42 grams of protein in a 20 oz bottle. And they taste good. But another hint, use them in place of water to make that sugar free jello and you have a protein filled dessert. Keep up the good work. I too tried doing the diet before the surgery but ended up getting a couple of my "favorites" in at the last minute.
Something else I'm trying is making the protein shakes into "Fudgesicles". They are freezing now so I will tell you all how it turns out. I used two scoops of powder and 6oz water and blended. The first batch I added 1/4 of a medium banana, the second batch I added orange extract so it would taste like a chocolate orange (you know those chocolates you bang to separate). Each batch made FOUR medium pops so they have about 10grams of protein and 40 calories each. It smelled pretty good so lets see how it freezes. I'll post later tonight on that. It should be like a yummy treat that I won't feel I have to get down quickly. I also just made broth with the recipe I have on my home page. I'll be adding recipes there as I find they work.
