Are any of you on it? It is a GIANT capsule!! My discharge orders say take it WHOLE!!! NO WAY! I am terrified of it. What do y'all do? I am on liquids and purees for a month, crushing up tiny pills like my thyroid. Also, Prozac. I was told I could open that capsule to take, but it is sooo very bitter. Any suggestions? Of course it is a holiday weekend..no surgeon to ask....and the residents/interns on call have no clue.......want to know why I have trouble swallowing.........even after I tell them about the gastric bypass and the tiny pouch... What is your experience with these things? Thanks! Wesie, 4 days post

You could call the hospital and talk to them they could probably help you, but I'm like you if it is very big I wouldn't try taking it, why is your throat sore? could that be from the tube that went down you during surgery? darlene

LOL!! That was my whole point.. I DON'T have any trouble swallowing!! I could not convince them that I was worried about the SIZE OF THE CAPSULE IN MY POUCH...............ONLY!! They kept wondering about the swallowing since it said I had to crush all my other pills. Throat is fine!!

Louisa maybe you could call the pharmacy. Ask for only the pharmacist. He or she should be able to give you some information about taking the capsule. Maybe you can even dissolve it in a little water or juice and take it over a period of time, few swallows at a time..

You guys are so great!! I knew the best help would come from these boards, LOL. Here are some very useful things I have found out so far: 1. Prozac comes in a LIQUID!!! No more nasty powder from the opened capsule! 2. Pepcid liquid is available at WalMart. 3. Anti-nausea drugs come in a dissolvable on your tongue (not sublingual) form....don't taste too bad. Beats the heck out of vile crushed pills. 4. Ursodiol capsules may be opened, just do not squish the innards!
