HOME!!!!! Gained 13 lbs!
Can you believe it? Terrible fluid retention! After two huge bouts of Lasix, peed a trillion gallons into the Foley, and only lost 1 lb!! LOL
Running a fever the past 3 nights, so feeling a bit puny.......Hope everyone is doing great!
I am afraid to take the big gallbladder capsules whole.....what to do, what to do...
Love you all...Wesie
Glad your HOME !!!! Sorry you are not feeling to great but i'm told the water retention will go away after a while. Then the loosing will begin !!!! What did your surgon say about the fever ???? You really need to be careful about infection. You might want to let him know about it. Is it a low grade fever ?????
Laura
Hey Laura! Yes, it is a low grade fever, and the surgeon does know about it since I was running it the last two nights in the hospital...........I am using my "huffer" a lot in hopes of getting rid of the fever...for whatever reason, they said it would help! LOL Anyway, it sure cannot hurt, and will help with my sats.
Hi Louisa,
I'm new to the message board but reading and listening very carefully to everyone. I am in the final decision mode and my desire increases and decreased with every message. You are the first that I have read so soon before and after so I am focusing on "your every word". Can I ask which type of surgery you decided on having? Seems there are personal choices of course but educating completely about each is so important for me. I have only gone as far as reading everything that I can, going to the inital PCP visit and then things sort of had to stop with me for while (my husband became ill). But I hope to be back on course soon, in the meantime, I am soooo happy to have found this web site and the support is a God Sent. Anyway, hope you don't mind the question, just still in the decision mode and educating myself up to the very last minute..
Glad to hear you seem in high spirits.. I see many prayers are with you.. mine too. Catherine
Hi Wesie!
Congrats on becoming a loser. I had my surgery September 2. I just got home yesterday morning. Mine was open, no problems. I am hoping we can "compare notes"
So far my wound feels a little sore. It looks okay though. It's not oozing or anything.
I get really nervous when I am eating that I am eating too much. I am having major anxiety about that. I have been eating sugar free jello and chicken broth and drinking crystal light. I usually eat 1/2 of the container of jello. Of the chicken broth I think I had like 1/2 cup.
I haven't gotten sick or anything but do you think I could have done damage eating too much?
I went to the grocery store today. It was great, I was up and walking around and then I pooped for the first time. (Yep, I know. Too much information.)
Thanks! Hope to hear back from you.
Jennifer
HOLY COW!!!! JENNIFER!! You have already been to the grocery o\store, and have POOPED????? I am utterly stunned..and jealous! That is just awesome! NOBODY poops that soon that I have ever heard of WOW......you are my hero.
I can do 2-4 oz of crystal light at a time and about the same with the jello..........and NO, I do not think you could have done any damage with chicken broth, jello, and Crystal Light!
My wound is pretty sore, but my belly around it is even sorer. The doc said he had really had to use the retractors since I was so small and his hands were so large.............and that I REALLY should have had lap. It ****** me off when he says this.......and he does EVERY TIME, as he knows damn well that is what I wanted, but my ins did not cover it.
Do lets keep in touch a we go through this crazy thing. It will be much more fun that way!!
Love, Wesie
Thanks for your great response! You are a riot!
What did your doctor give you for pain relief? Mine gave me Tylenol 3. THis knocks me out! Makes me fall asleep. So, I've been a little hesitant to take it because I have been waking up every night at 2am and having trouble sleeping until I wake up at around 7am.
I am thrilled you would like to keep in touch! It makes things so much easier.
Talk to you soon!
Jennifer
For Pain> In the hospital, I had the morphine pump----good pain control but ITCHY, ITCHY, dizzy, and a bit nauseous, so I tended not to want to use it. Also, it slowed down my breathing so much that my sats kept being too low....so I would have to go on 02. SO, they switched me to Oxycodone liquid, 1 or 2 teaspoons every 4 hours.....and that is what I have now. Works OK.
Also, in the hospital I had a pump with a drip line implanted in my incision called an "ON CUE". It had some sort of big drug in it....not sure what, but it started with a "B"! Anyway when the resident pulled it out, she asked ifit had helped..........well, duh.........how should I know?? Compared to what?? After having it out 12 hours I know the answer HELL YES IT HELPED!! I wish I had it back! It did make the incision "weep" a bit.....but the alternative makes ME weep a lot more!!!
The sleeping thing~In ther hospital, I only slept if loaded up on all the drugs. Last night was my first night in my own bed....went to bed around midnight AND DID NOT MOVE, literally, until 7:30am! BLISS! After the potty, slept another two hours. I was on sleeping pills for insomnia up until the surgery, but figured I am weaned now, so will not go back to them...at least I THINK I won't go back to them right now............
Love, W
