Any Suggestions for Post-op home prep
Hi Mimi! My date is 9/20, one week before yours!
You should probably have everything in the house that you will need for at least a week or so. Protein drinks, broth, sugar free jello, carb free juice drinks. I don't know what your surgeon requires but I will be on a liquid diet for 3 weeks after surgery. Also any medication that you will require: pain meds, tylenol, gas-x, milk of magnesia, my surgeon requires heparin or lovenox injections several times a day for 30 days to prevent clots. Maybe some books, magazines, videos? And most important . . . comfy shoes for lots of walking! Good luck!

make sure your house is clean, your laundry done, errands caught up as you will be unable to do any of these thing right away. also have some protein drinks, sf popsicles, sf jello, bottled water. don't buy too much as your tastes can change (i bought an 18 pack of jello at BJs and only ate about 6 before they expired!) i loved the popsicles but every one is different. its good to have some crystal light on hand also. i found it hard to read when i first got home as the pain pills made me sleepy, but it is good to have some books and magazines. best of luck to you on your upcoming surgery

Mimi, I agree with the getting all your housework in order. I know even if I am just feeling a little ill now and the house is a mess it just makes me feel worse.
Just stock up on a few of the essentials your doctor recommends, as I too, have heard many say their tastes changed post-op.
Good luck!
