Surgery Cancelled!

I went for surgery yesterday and it was cancelled due to having bronchitis. What a day. I was scared before that and now I think maybe someone is telling me to think about this twice. I need some help here, I am SCARED and second guessing myself about having this surgery. My daughter and I were on our way home last night traveling on the interstate and there was a bad accident. A vehicle was off the road and was on fire and there was a 18-wheeler pulled off trying to put out the fire. As I was stopping, another 18-wheeler pulled off and was helping put out the fire also. I stopped my car and walked back past the two large trucks heading towards the accident when I saw a small woman walking towards me stumbling. I asked her if she was ok and she stated that she did not speak any English. She had blood all over her and I instructed her to sit down on the ground. She was able to tell me that her name was Teresa and that I all. While I was working with her, I observed another individual coming towards me stumbling down the highway. (Let me remind you that this is a busy 4 lane interstate with cars and trucks passing us at 70 and 80 miles an hour.) I saw that he was in much worse condition that the female and he had a large gash on his head with blood pouring everywhere. I had him lie down on the grass and he kept trying to get up. Still, no one else had stopped to help us. The vehicle they were traveling in was completely consumed in fire. I do not understand how these two people got out of the vehicle, but neither one of the other two individuals had notices these two wondering down the interstate. It was late at night and they were both dressed in dark clothing with no shoes on. If I had not been where I was at the time I was, they would have continued walking on the interstate and most likely been hit and killed due to no one being about to see them until it was too late. They had just survived a terrible accident and now were placed at risk of death due to their state of confusion and bodily harm that they had sustained. I feel that God interveined in my having surgery yesterday morning so that I could be in that place at that time to possible save both of their lives. Everyone that was passing the accident was so INGROSSED in looking at the accident, they would not have seen these two individuals stumbling down the road. I thank God that he interveined and I was able to help someone in need. I do have a new surgery date of September 15, 2004, but I am still SCARED!!!!! P.S. Please excuse any misspelled words.

The same thing happened to me while the surgeon was preparing me for surgery, so i went home called my doctor and got a prescription for prednisone to clear my lung now I have a new date which is Sept. 09, 2004. Don't give just because things work against you doesn't mean it's time to give up, maybe it means have patience and hope.

Sandra, God always has a plan. Things happen the way they do for a reason. I don't think God is trying to tell you not to have surgery. He just needed an earthly angel. I know this surgery is scary, I am scared to but I know this is the right time in my life to do this. When God has his hand in things they just seem to fall in place. So trust in him and you will make it through just fine. My prayers are with you. I have surgery on the 27th. God Bless Sonya

Sandra, I agree with what Sonya said...to me there is no other explanation than it wasn't in God's timing, it was your day to help those people. (I hope they were ok...) I hope you're feeling better soon and on your way to the "losing" side. Tracy J

Wow.....you were there in the right place and I think that those people were blessed to have you. The surgery is not an easy road....you will feel sick at times (but we all feel sick at times), you won't be able to eat your favorite foods like you used to.....(the ones that got you overweight to begin with), you will have to eat healthy and exercise and you will feel a big improvement after 2-3 weeks. This surgery has risks...mostly blood clots and leakage....but the blood clots are preventable and the leaks can be fixed (should you happent to get one). The pain is tolerable if you keep it under control. But the loosing on this side is indescribable. I would do it all again anyday. 296/261/140

Wow, were they lucky to have you! I'm a firm believer in everything happens for a reason, and it sounds to me like your surgery was postponed so that you could help those people. Best of luck for your surgery on the 15th and wishing you a speedy recovery!!

Sandra, If you were planning a vacation and you became ill would you postpone or cancell all together. Don't look for reasons not to do this look for reasons to do it. They are probably the same reasons you made the decision to have the surgery in the first place. I have just spent 6 days in the hospital visiting my husband during his surgery and recovery. I have seen sooo many patients that were there because of health issues based on obesity. Patients that lost limbs due to being diabetic, patients having heart surgery due to heart disease. I'm sure most could have been preventive with a healthier life style. At least as I observed I felt it was even more of a reason to go forward with my plans. I also am feeling a little scared and second guessing at times. But to me it seems the worst of several other evils.. maybe that was just God speaking to me! Good luck and stay strong. Catherine
