Well here I am... first day of my liquid protein and I cant stomach it. My Dr. recommended Slim Fast but I had one this morning and they are just too thick. The taste was bad but not to where I cant drink it. I know allot of you are drinking other things... can you make some suggestions? I read yesterday in one of the post about some drink that taste like kool-aid. It wasnt Crystal light it... was a protein drink. I have heard of the unflavored protein to add to a drink of choice but I do not know what it is is called. Please help me .. I have 2 weeks of this!!! Kimie

I really like AdvantEdge that's ready to go, no mixing or anything and you can buy it in your grocery store. From BariatricEating.com I love the AchievOne mocha Starbuck-like protein drinks. I was thinking you might also be thinking of Nectar's products from the same site. They have Roadside Lemonade, Fuzzy Navel and some others you might want to try. I think Unjury is just wonderful and mixes very well, and if you get the unflavored, you can add it to whatever juice you're drinking (like Diet Splash). Good luck finding something. I'm lucky (in a way) that I'm not too fussy! Jan

Well I love Slim fast but that is just me. I used carnation instant breakfast no sugar added these past almost 2 weeks. The slim fast had to many calories and not enough protein. The ready made carnation instant breakfast carb no sugar added shaked are thinner then slim fast and easier to drink. They come in chocolate and vanilla only right now. I haven't tried any of the protein drinks but I hear there are some great ones. I have a friend who purchased a sample box from one of the websites. She is trying them all each day and letting me know what she likes. So far she says the roadside lemonade isn't to bad. Also someone mentioned the pre made ready to drink protein drinks at GNC that are like 3 and change a bottle. This all liquids is torture at first. I still don't know how I got through 9 days of it. I wish you the best of luck and I hope you find something that agrees with your tastebuds. Shannon

Hi Kimie, Check out www.bariatriceating.com. I haven't gotten mine yet, but a friend swears by their stuff. There's something called "nectar" which is the kool-aid type stuff you might be talking about. They have fuzzy navel, caribbean punch, etc. I was told you could add four scoops to a pitcher of crystal light, sip on it for the day (finishing the 2 quarts) and you would have satisfied you clear liquids requirement while getting more than 100 grams of protein. I can't wait to get mine and try it. Good luck! --Dori

First, why do they have you drinking Slim Fast? It's loaded with sugar and very little protein. (12g in one can of Lactose free) Get yourself a really good blender. I have a Oster 6700, available at Best Buy for $80. It has presetting for crushed ice, smoothies, powder drinks, and baby food. (and more) Then get Soy milk or Lactaid, skim to 1% (doctor says only skim, but even I'm not that good). 12 ounces of milk, 1 cup of ice, 2 scoops of protein powder, then add flavor extracts 1-2 tsp or decaff coffee (2 tbls) or a 1 inch slice of banana or 2 strawberries or 1/6 peach.. you get the idea I think. In the Cook Book: Before & After by Susan Maria Leach (www.bariatriceating.com) she suggests: Creamy Vanilla Zero Carb Isopure protein. available at GNC and Vitamin World. 50 grams of protein per serving. I plan on purchasing this one when it comes time. She gives lots of shake suggestions in her book. Another Soy protein powder is Revival, but they are only available on line at www.revivalsoy.com Their chocolate sweetened with Splenda is good, probably better once we add the ice. For now you are in a hurry, so I suggest - get a blender, get some items to add flavor, pick up some Splenda in case you want it sweeter, and get the Isopure. Good Luck! Christina

I've been told we absorb Whey protein better than soy. In fact, it is what my doctor's nutritionist said as well. You might want to be sure you're getting the right protein. Also, we only absorb 30 grams of protein at a "meal", so keep that in mind when using powders, etc. No point in wasting the money! Sheil

30 grams huh...didn't know that.. well then - I'm making sure there are at least 30 grams in the shake! Ooo.. that mean 1 1/2 scoops would be plenty, instead of 2. Thanks for the update! You know.. on the Revival Soy papers it says Soy is better than Whey. Go figure. Hey, I found a canned protein drink (from my list that I got from the Doctor) at Publix (grocery store in Florida, for those in other states). It's Zoic. 4g Carbs, 110 Cal, 21g Protein. sweetened with Splenda. We are having to make hurricane preparations for H. Frances... it was actually easy for us to do. 1. cans of Zoic 2. water 3. large cooler 4. ice .. no more canned goods, chips, crakers, etc - how cool it that!
