question ??????
Hi! Here's what I plan to bring:
Brush
Tooth brush/paste
Wash cloths
LIP STUFF!! --- This one is a must, I hear.
Shampoo/conditioner
body wash
Hair ties
Pillow
Slippers or no slip socks
Lotion
Magazines -- I hear mags are better than books because of the drugs
Q-tips
Camera
PJs -- It was suggested to me to a buy a pair bigger because you bloat some with all the fluids.
wipes and tongs --- personal hygeine can prove difficult for some.
lose/comfy clothes -- for ride home.
pads/tampons -- most women start their periods at the hospital
back scratcher -- this was also listed a real bonus - for reaching and scratching.
Blessings, joy and health!
Nancy
It's a great list! Sounds like you are an organized person to me. I figured I wouldn't take a lot. Keep it simple, get a travel pack with the litttle shampoo and the like. Of course, I am in Houston and my surgery is in Dallas (I moved mid-process), so I'll be packing a bag for the hospital and a bag for my mom's after I get out of the hospital. I've been in the hospital before, but under emergency cir****tances where I wasn't able to pack a bag and didn't stay long so I didn't have much with me. I'm sure if you forget something the hospital will have a substitue (but it will invariably come with a hefty pricetag I'm sure ).
Glad you pointed out the feminine issue. Both of the people I know that have had the surgery so far started while in the hospital. Egads! At least the painkillers will kill my cramps too!
Blessings all!
Eliza
Here is a list I have compiled

Small size shampoo / conditioner
Soap/body wash
Toothbrush / toothpaste
Deodorant
Q-tips
Hairbrush/comb
Back scratcher
Tampons/pads
Bandanna or Eye Mask -Keep the light out
Earplugs ?? - keep the noise out
Slip-on, no-slip slippers
Warm socks
Long robe
CD Player/CD's/Batteries
Cell Phone and charger
Comfy Pajamas
Pillows for the car ride home (I will put these in the car when we leave so I know they will be there when I get picked up)
Quilt for the car ride home (same as above)
Magazines
Puzzle-books
Pens
Journal (Keeping notes of your hospital stay)
Some people take a fan as some hospitals are hot (but check with your hospital and make sure it's allowed)
Some take their own pillows
The nurse I spoke to at my pre-op meeting today said to bring nothing except for my CPAP, but you can bet that I plan on bringing
toothbrush and paste
lip balm
my own pillows
slide-on slippers
a good book
And my favorite shampoo and a brush
I'll wear their johnnies and use their soap. It's only for a couple of days.
Only one week away. I've probably had one of the shortest notices for surgery (I found out Wednesday that I'm having surgery on 9/3) but I'm kind of glad that I don't have a lot of time to stress about it.
