I start my protein shake diet tomorrow. I have to be on it for 2 weeks before my surgery. I had a big meal with my hubby tonight and I am so full. No more solid food for me for a while. Shannon

Interesting!! Isn't it wild how differently surgeons handle the pre and post op situations with this surgery? I was not aware that anyone had to go off solid foods two weeks out. Wonder what the reasoning is, other than that is hust how your doc does it? Good luck, Shannon! Wesie, 12 days out but still eating

My surgeon wants us to increase our protein as much as possible so the healing is better/faster and wants us to decrease sugar/carbs so the liver isn't as fatty. Two weeks before surgery we are to have 2 meals of liquid protein shakes and one small high protein, low carb meal. I'm not sure how low the "low" is supposed to be, but I think I'm doing ok thus far. Jan

We (husband and I ) both have to start 2 weeks of protein shakes only on September 7th. So you can imagine what Labor Day weekend will be like! Our doctor requires the protein shakes to greatly lower calorie intake for fatty livers. It should also shrink the stomach, I bet..

Now I am not required to diet before hand. I just cannot put on weight for fear of fat surrounding the liver. It just makes it more difficult for the surgeon. That was why he almost cancelled me from having the surgery last Monday. But he still may do it. Keeping my fingers crossed. I am fortunate that I don't have to do a liquid diet or any diet b4 surgery. I am just choosing to do a diet on my own to show my surgeon that I am comitted to WLS. Erin
