Im having my surgury Sept...
Im having my surgury September I'm not nervous but very excited to get it over with. My only concerned is shopping for the right things to eat I will use the grocery list we got in our packet but I know some things probbly I will not be able to tolerate. someone let me know what to other things to get in case the usual dosent work.
Congratulations on getting your surgery date! I think most of the foods you will be eating are gonna be a try me out thing. Everyone is gonna be different on what foods you will be able to tolerate. Just get a few things and after your surgery you will be able to see what agrees and what doesn't. What day is your surgery on?
Doreen
You know I have that fear too. I know that the shakes will be easy but I am a little nervous about making sure I eat the right things once I can start eating real food. I wish I could fins a cook book designed for WLS patients. I see so many people write in their journals how they gained cause they ate this soup or because they had a certain kind of meat. I just want to make sure I am cooking nutritious foods.

Congratulations Marilyn on getting your date for September. We have a great group here. I think that we all are feeling this way. I know I am. But Doreen made a good point. We all are going to tolerate certain foods in our own individual way. What works for you may not work for me. I ordered a few sample packets from unjury.com. They came highly recommended. Or try your health food store and see if they sell individual packets and pick some of those up. If unjury isn't OK for me I will have to find some other brand. So I guess it is all trial and error.
It's kinda unsettling to me to have to wait and figure out what works and what doesn't. If everything on your list doesn't agree with you then contact your nutritionist and discuss it with them. (That is what mine said to me) I hope this helps you some. What is your surgery date?

The people in the WLS support group I go to say they are amazed at how their tastes change after surgery. Things you use to love will make you gag while things you hate now, you'll fall in love with. There are even some who were lactose intolerant pre-op and now enjoy dairy. Go figure. It'll be like starting over at ground zero. We should learn pretty quickly what works for us. Good luck with surgery!
