I'm SO confused! HAAAAALLLLLPPPPP!!!
Hey everyone....
I'm either REALLY confused or just plain stupid! I'm getting ready to start on week 3 of my post-op diet (woo-hoo, I'm already down 29lbs), and as I was flipping through my diet guidelines, I noticed that after weeks 3 & 4 it says that I can add potatoes (skinless) and rice to my diet. Am I just old school or aren't they LOADED with carbs?? I'd like to know if anyone out there can shed a little light on this for me before I reach those weeks...lord knows I don't want to have lost all this weight and blow back up because of a stupid spud!
Depends on what your doctor recommends. Some do allow potatoes early on because they are soft. My surgeon doesn't allow any white, refined, etc. foods. Even now at over 9 months out I may do rice or potatoes once every two or three weeks and then very limited. The carbs aren't worth it. If I have another choice I won't have the rice/potatoes.
Good morning. Just had a hernia repair, (bigger they ever saw) and a tummy tuck on 03/17/06. I was in the hospital for 20 hours with my gastric bypass and back to work in 2 days. This was a little different. I was in the hospital for 2 nights. I came back to work in 2 1/2 weeks which was probably a bit soon but I refused to use vacation at home while I got better. It is a little rough but every day you feel better. I went from a size 12 to a size 8 after my surgery and I still have a lot of swelling. I will keep you in my prayers. You will do great!!!
